Not really: we did - on the same line - 324km/h (= 200 mph): you only notice that, when reading it on the speedometer in the waggons.

The Thaly and ICE (Inter City Express) trains can move; I think it goes over 150mph, because the close up scenery really is a blurr.

The normal IC, which c.i. took from Lippstadt, does on that route 110 mph.
The ICE, which took him to Berlin, has a top speed of 190 mph.

Piffka, our friend pwayfarer just returned from Malta. Here are two good sites of interest.

http://www.svenwaghals.de/fotos/malta/

http://www.lessing4.de/megaliths/malta.htm

Malta has such an interesting history - I'm planning a trip there myself.

CJ,
Yes, I agree, the autobahn is so great. After my first trip to Germany in '76, I excitedly told all my friends about the "driving" experiences in Germany. Especially the young teenagers dream come true - the great "green light drag race" to the next traffic light. grin
After many visits and more "racing around everywhere" - I finally found myself flashing my lights at certain people (probably tourists) and pointing to my head. BIG grin.

You should be careful, especially on the El Camino Real, as I've seehere!

c.i., Great! You are such a prolific traveler and take really good photos. Thanks for the pix.

Walter, I have jokingly said about American highways that the fastest auto on the road is a tailgaiter.
In USA, we do not have the drivers staying in the right lane of traffic. They are everywhere and very unpredictable in their driving habits.

Hehe Walter, I don't drive these inland roads. I'm more coastal, but
we have 2 motorcycle officers who just work our little village and they
hide in a spot where the speed limit is 25 mph. for a short stretch.
Luckily, drivers here are good in warning others of the CHP Smile

danon5, you got into German traffic pretty fast, with
naughty handsignals and all Laughing

Steve,

Upon a second look, you are quite correct. The figure does look feminine.

Uh Oh,
It's the bearded lady if Steve is correct. Where's Ripley when you need him?

big grin.

Francis, We driving wabbits are really fast.....! - nuther grin.

CJ, I've been driving in Europe during 12 or 13 trips since that first time. It was during the fifth or sixth time that I found myself blinking the lights - (I sometimes think I'm a slow learner). I have actually - in real life - never pointed to my head unintentionally. I did a couple of time just because the devil make me do it. grin.

Darn Adlers!!!!!!!!!

c.i. - That is such an impressive group of photos. I'm now sure I'm visiting Malta - there is way too much history to be missed if I don't.

well I dont think 2 weeks of stubble and mis-applied cheek blusher should necessarily detract from one's feminine side

on the other hand, wouldn't want to get into bed with it either
