Saddam murdered on average more than 2,000 Iraqi civilian men, women and children per month. Since Saddam was removed, on average less than 900 Iraqi civilian men, women and children per month have been murdered by Saddamites and al Qaeda, and killed by the Coalition. That is an improvement, but not a "great" improvement. In the last month, less than 600 Iraqi civilian men, women and children have been murdered by Saddamites and al Qaeda, and killed by the Coalition. That's a little better improvement.

I bet that if the USA does not quit and run, we will continue to see even better improvement.

Why should I trust anything you write?

You shouldn't! That's absolutely right. I only offer advice. You are free to act or not act upon it.

Ladeen wrote he has no idea whether bin Laden is dead or not. Do you think he actually does know? If so, why do you believe that? What specifically are you recommending I search for?

I don't think he has a clue. And part of not trusting me, why would you trust my links? If you want to know, Ledeen and Gorbanifar were tied into the forged Niger uranium documents that were used to justify the Iraq war. But, as Lavaar Burton used to say, 'don't take my word for it; read it yourself.'

I've been researching Ledeen for a long, long time, and I feel he'd say whatever he thought would provoke a war with Iran for a long, long time now.

Are you sure we're talking about the same guy?

This guy?

Because, his byline is Ledeen.

I'm not a member of the guilt-by-association crowd -- I infer you are. Whether or not I trust your links depends on how well those links explain why they believe what they claim to believe, and whether I have encountered any contradictory evidence.

No, I'm not sure! I posted a quote by Michael Ladeen! When you responded, I thought you were responding to that post, since I had quoted Michael Ladeen in that post and not Ledeen.

I can't seem to figure out if they are the same person or not, but they both seem to be experts on Iran... I'll have to do more research on this.

U.S. Military Announces Release of 420 Iraqi Detainees
Number Includes Five Women; Insurgent Attacks Repelled

BAGHDAD, Jan. 26 -- The U.S. military announced Thursday that 420 detainees, including five women, would be released Thursday and Friday.

A group that claimed responsibility for abducting American journalist Jill Carroll in Baghdad January 7 had threatened to kill her unless all female detainees in American custody were set free.

The military, which has maintained it will not negotiate with hostage-takers, is believed to be holding at least eight female detainees. It said the detainees were to be released this week after a standard review of their cases.

About 420 detainees, to include five females, are being released from the Theater Internment Facilities on Jan. 26 and 27. The Combined Review and Release Board reviewed their cases and recommended release.

Meanwhile, U.S. Marines and Iraqi soldiers repelled coordinated attacks on the provincial government headquarters in the western city of Ramadi on Tuesday afternoon, killing seven insurgents, the military said Wednesday.

Five insurgents -- whose assault included mortar, small-arms and machine-gun fire -- were killed by a strike from a Marine Harrier jet as they gathered in a nearby cemetery, according to a statement from Capt. Jeffrey S. Pool, a Marine spokesman in the city. Two other fighters died in a firefight after insurgents used a rocket-propelled grenade to attack a military convoy entering the city's main government compound.

No U.S. or Iraqi forces were wounded in the clashes

MEASURABLE PROGRESS
ican711nm wrote:
The USA and Iraq's solution is to establish a democracy in Iraq secured by the Iraqis themselves. Iraq and the USA have completed five of seven steps toward their solution:
(1) Select an initial Iraq government to hold a first election.
(2) Establish and begin training an Iraq self-defense military.
(3) Hold a democratic election of an interim government whose primary function is to write a proposed constitution for a new Iraq democratic government.
(4) Submit that proposed constitution to Iraq voters for approval or disapproval.
(5) After approval by Iraq voters of an Iraq democratic government constitution, hold under that constitution a first election of the members of that government.

(6) Organize the newly elected Iraq government.
(7) Train, as specified by the new Iraq government, an Iraq military to secure that Iraq government.
(8) Remove the USA military from Iraq in a phased withdrawal.

The USA will withdraw from Iraq in phases in harmony with the evolution of Iraq's self-governance. As a consequence, both Iraqis and Americans will in their mutual self-interest achieve the following goals:
(A) Stop the terrorists and Saddamists from threatening Iraq's democracy;
(B) Enable Iraqi security forces to protect their own people;
(C) Prevent Iraq from becoming a potential safe haven for terrorists to plot attacks against the USA and other countries.

MEASURABLE PROGRESS TOWARD ACHIEVING GOAL (A)

Saddam’s regime murdered more than 720,000 Iraq civilian men, women, and children over 30 years.

Saddamists and al-Qaeda murdered, and Coalition killed 32,444 Iraq civilian men, women, and children from 1/1/2003 to 12/31/2005.

Saddamists and al-Qaeda murdered, and Coalition killed 356 Iraq civilian men, women, and children from 1/1/2006 to 1/22/2006.

On average, Saddam’s regime murdered more than 2,000 Iraq civilian men, women, and children per month over 30 years.

On average, Saddamists and al-Qaeda murdered, and Coalition killed 901 Iraq civilian men, women, and children per month from 1/1/2003 to 12/31/2005.

Projection based on daily average, Saddamists and al-Qaeda will have murdered, and Coalition will have killed 502 Iraq civilian men, women, and children in the month from 1/1/2006 to 1/31/2006.

That will result in a total of 32,444 + 502 = 32,946; then divide that by 37 and you will get the new monthly average of 890.

Then that would result in a reduction of the monthly average from 901 to 890 and would surely be a little measurable progress.

This thread is approaching 600 pages, and has almost six thousand posts, so i'm splitting it again.

Frankly, i think it has degenerated into a soapbox in a virtual Hyde Park Corner from which Ican rants. Nevertheless, he is not the only visitor here, just the most prolix. So please take it to the next thread.

NEW THREAD HERE.
