I studied German for two years as part of my schools compulsory LOTE (language other than english) course. I found some crazy german words like these:

1) Hottentottenpottentattenattentat = assassination of a south african tribal chief

2) Fussballweltmeisterschaft = soccer world championship

And this phobia is bizarre (it was in a dictionary of them)

3) Hippopotomonstrososquipedaliophobia = unhealthy fear of long words

(imagine explaining that to your therapist)

4) Antidisestablishmentarianism (is thta how you spell it)

Please post anymore yu can think of (like that town in britain with 50 odd letters in its name)

Yitwail, there's an even longer variant of your first word: Hottentottenpotentatentantenattentater = which means "the assassin of the aunt of a south african tribal chief".

The town in Britain that you're thinking of is
Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, in Wales. Actually the name is a bit of a cheat because the real name is just Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, which means "St Mary's church by the pool of the white hazels". The rest of the name was invented in the 1880s as a marketing exercise, to encourage tourists and persuade the railway company to buld a station there. It worked!

Nobody uses the full name in real life. They either use its original name or, if they find that too hard to pronounce (Welsh pronunciation is tricky), just "Llanfair PG" will do.

The longest place name is in New Zealand.

My Deutsche cousin said that the longest word in German is something along the line of 'Rhine-ferry--First-mate's-duty roster' or something along that line.....

Gotcha....

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu
However, there is a place in New Zealand which can claim the longest place name still in use. This Maori translates to "the place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as 'landeater,' played his flute to his loved one."
