Which ones are correct? Which one do you prefer?
A computer is used to do a variety of things.
A computer is used for a variety of things.
A computer is used to a variety of things.
Jo, welcome to A2K. One and two are fine; three, no!
#3 is grammatically perfectly correct, but what it actually means is
"A computer is accustomed to a variety of things." Which, since computers are not sentient beings (not yet anyway), can't be true.
