Sure, but keep practicing.

The first night is always the worst. Next time you won't be the new kid, you'll be more familiar and it won't be long before you start making friends.

Everyone feels a bit awkward in situations like this, not just people with Asperger's.

What kind of group is this? If it's a emotional support group, they might not like other members to just attend ... simply to for hooking up situations. If it's a social group? More power to you, though keep in mind many women go to these things just for socializing and while NOT looking for potential romantic relationships.

That's a big complaint at many events on Meetup.com. Some women don't expect to be hit on as they aren't there looking for dates or committed relationships. Just something to think about (to further make this whole socializing thing that much more frustrating ).

I wish I had known about such groups, when I was young. You almost can't make it alone.

Its a social group.

Just think of it as a way of meeting friends, the rest will follow.
