I love that story but I knew it wasn't true the minute I read it. (1) I listen to NPR regularly (almost exclusively); and (2)I'd heard the story before, told in a different context, with different names but the same pinch-line.
Glad you posted it, though, BVT. The problem with kids and guns is that, in most cases, nobody has bothered to teach them gun safety. It's analogous to the uptight parents who don't want their kids to have sex education because it might lead them to want to "do it."
