Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

I don’t know what God or Satan’s game is, but God giving Satan dominion over our political/physical realm as well as the power to deceive our spiritual/religious realm in us all seems counterintuitive to what a good God would do.

It seems like God is giving Satan the advantage, in terms of our ability to think without deception or Satan’s undo interference.

Rev12;9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,

called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Why did God curse us with Satan and her minions?

It cannot be to give us free will as none of us have the free will to never sin. If we did have that, we would have some examples of
people who never sinned.

On another tangent, scriptures say that God himself put’s lies/deception into his prophets and that he decides who will have faith or not by his doling out grace only to those he has pre-selected and thus denies other the ability to have faith or belief.

This biblical contradiction, strangely, refutes all that I put above on Satan. Can Christians clear up this contradiction?

@Greatest I am,
My theory is that God and Satan are not precisely directly opposing forces... God has the power on the spiritual side of things, but Satan has the power on the worldly side of things... This is why people have to fight hard if we want to make the world a better place, and this is why the world is not much worse today, thanks to the efforts and sacrifice of people today and in the past.
It is biblical, even Jesus himself says people will do far more than he can by himself!
But, again, its just a theory, i do not make any guarantee i am correct!

Not too shabby my friend.

Jesus did expect many brethren. I wish Christians would step up.

They both have the same amount of control - none.

I also wonder why the devil came into the world?.... possibly he was able to do so because of the fall of man?
However, in the story of Adam and Eve it is implied that the snake that convinced Eve to eat the apple was the devil. So the devil was allowed to hang around in the garden of Eden and have influence over Gods creation?
Hang on a minute, with all these snakes and deadly apples around,,, is it really a 'garden of eden'??? hmmmm

I think the answer is that the story of Adam and Eve is not meant to be taken literally. I think the devil was able to come into the world because of the sin of man.... it fits his motif that he gets closer to people through their sin.

Neither. Only one person has control over your thinking and that is you. Unless, you give control to God or Satan. The thing is God isn't trying to trick you into giving Him control, He asks for you to follow Him for your own good. Satan on the other hand wants to trick you into following him to your destruction.

The question is which one are you giving the power to.

@brianjakub,
"Satan on the other hand wants to trick you into following him to your destruction."

And that trick is that you dont know your following him!! Your own pride and bitterness and hate are the band, he is the conductor.

@mystikmind,
And pride and bitterness is a conscience choice and a person must freely choose to be that way.

@brianjakub,
It always boils down to choice.

'Choice'... its a rather unassuming word isn't it? Most people underestimate the significance of that word.

Think about it this way.... everything in the universe functions according to the laws of cause and effect, a planet cannot decide to start orbiting in the opposite direction for example, not without something to cause that to happen.

So its possible, that in all the universe, there is only 1 place where an outcome other than cause and effect can occur - puny little humans on puny little Earth! Your power to chose, can in some sense be viewed, as being more powerful, than all the universe put together!!!!

Choice - Not such a tiny word after all perhaps?

I agree.

I agree that we should not take the bible literally.

Christians see a fall in Eden yet sing of Adam's sin as a happy fault and necessary to god's plan. Quite a mental conflict there.

I prefer the Jewish and Gnostic Christian view that Christianity reversed of Eden being where man was elevated to the same moral sense as the gods.

Christians stupid. Jews and Gnostic Christian smart.
