I have been informed by someone that because of the acidic contect of drinks such as cola that they can burn holes in one's stomach.
Ive never heard of that.
I have been told by my dentist not to drink anything other than water as the fizzy drinks Ive had over the years have worn the enamel off my teeth. So fizzy drinks are pretty strong stuff.
We see the likes of Janet Jackson, Pink and Britney advertising fizzy drinks. If they drank loads of it thei teeth would not be as white as they look!
As for it making holes in the stomach, Id be very surprised. We already have acid in our stomach to break down food.I cant see a drink being any stronger than that.
new reaearch has linked esophogeal cancer with carbonated beverages. Its the reflux at the (cardiac?) valve area that can , over time cause lesions t5hat can become malignant.
I read this in the NYT Science section a few weeks ago .
