Good evening Lady Di.
I am so sorry to hear you are having problems.
When I do, I often just give up, and stroll for awhile (days in fact) Very Happy

Once in awhile, I still do some poetry. Usually keep some of it 'home' just in case it ever DOES get published. Very Happy
Thanks for appreciating it.
Yes, we could have a wonderful time if we could all get together and just talk for hours and hours.
Crone conferencing--- that's what we'd call it. And lock the door.
Ah, yeah.
(Hi Letty- I bet you're in bed now, right where I am about to go. goodnight from Georgia).

It all is good and I've heard from Diane that Urs is "Wunderbar" ... but I was waiting to hear how it was to walk on the embers.

That sounded scary!!!

Can you tell I had a busy week? Today is the first time I am at the computer at home...

Piffka, walking on embers is not as scary as it sounds. You walk rather fast. It was wonderful to stand in front of this glowing orange hot carpet, feeling my face burn and then starting to walk. We were in the hills of Italy, above Bolzano with a wonderful view of the town.

The hardest part of the whole seminar was to stand in front of 30 people I did not know and tell about my fears, my thoughts, my reasons for doing this. And I learned that you can do things even though you are scared of them. You just take your fears in your hands and you start walking. Great experience and it definitely helped me grow.

Good afternoon friends,

I don't know if you folks are having any 'weather', but we had a terrible thunderstorm and looks like more, in fact for several days. Shutting down the computer this am, I decided to try to get FINISHED in the next hour, because it will have to be off for awhile. All we can do is hope our tower does not go down again. I really am fidgety when our dsl is OUT.

Urs, I noticed you are from Germany, we used to have an "ULshmidt from Austria... not the same?? If so (or if not, ) HUGS to you!! Lou

Hello Lou, I've heard of Ul Schmidt - Diane told me about her. No, I am not her... ... but I gladly accept the hugs! :-)

Hope the thunderstorms are over with no damage done...

Diane has just sent me the reference to this thread, which should not die. Crones live, thrive, and are the new economic power in Britain! Is 60 the new 40? My mother-in-law is going to be 90 next year, and yesterday went for her usual 3 mile walk with a friend before doing her stint in the local museum. She says 'I'm very lazy though. If I don't have an alarm, I sleep till past 9'. So is 90 the new 70?!

What I find is that one is expected to be part of the community at this age. Yet where I live is not particularly a community for me, nor am I truly interested in it. How much more is A2K a community! I spent more time with it than in the town.

Those were some ramblings... just to revive this useful thread.

I was thinking in a similar direction this afternoon, Clary, when my business partner and I were talking - as our business is desolving this week - about her mother being in a community of baptists. And hearing her talk about how she is faintly jealous of her mother's community but sans belief.

And I think, well, I have this gang of posters..

Ah, in a way we are at similar points in life... My business partner and I are discussing selling up - there's a limit to how big our school can grow, and we make so little profit that sometimes she can't pay herself a proper salary for running the place and giving it 80 hours a week.

Posters are good for you! Are you in fact moving to the navel of the univserse, Albuquerque?

Yes, I am. I have to sell my own house first. I am packing up a lot of stuff to clear the space for real estate appraisal soon. A barrel of convection, as I need to keep all my things and I need to get rid of all my things.

Oh lord. Such a difficult one. I guess compromise is the only way - keep half, dump half. Doesn't help if you can't decide which half, though. I reckon books can go, are no longer sacrosanct as they were in my childhood. You can get copies, online if necessary, or go to libraries. And pruck (that useful word I discovered while balderdashing) - objects which are quite decorative but useless. One or two objects like that in any room should be enough, apparently.

This is one of the most beautiful threads I have ever come across and I am so glad it has been revived. Just goes to show, you can't keep a good woman down for long. Smile

I came so close to having the chance to meet Diane and Dys on my move to Oklahoma from California, but it ended up we took the northern (Route 80) and went out of our way to see my grandmother in Iowa before dipping down to OK. It was well worth the trip as she will be 93 next month, but at the same time, I felt a twinge of sorrow over not meeting Diane and Dys.

My vote is... Smile Get yer butt to New Mexico, osso and then we can have a southwestern gathering! Just us crones or all! I really got a kick out of the pajama party idea. Smile

There is nothing more beautiful then a woman whos knowledge lays in her eyes and her hair is salted with grey threads of love, life, and beauty.

At my 45th college reunion earlier this month the Class of '35 was still going strong. There were only four of them, but these 90-odd year old women were lively.

YAY!! Old broads coming to talk and ramble and enjoy being old broads. Hope I didn't offent anyone with that old broad stuff--some younger women gasp and say that I don't need to call myself an old broad, but that is what I am and I mean it in the most favorable way possible. It gives me freedom to join or not, play or not, and choose my friends very carefully instead of not wanting to cause anyone to feel left out. Hell, I prefer to be left out most of the time.

What good company. Come back anytime!

Lady J, a New Mexico pajama party would be fantastic! Did you know that Dys can be made to blush? Hee, hee, hee, being surrounded by wild women would be a highlight of his life. If, by chance, we wish to have it be an all goddess event, he will agree to that as well and maybe stay with a friend in Denver or Phoenix. He is a very sweet cowboy.

Anyway, we have a small house, but enough room for several ladies if they don't insist on elegant boudoirs and don't mind a little dog and a noisy parrot. Our garden is lovely and perfect for all night talks.

Oh God, that would be sooooo much fun. If necessary, we might have to wait until next year in hopes that a few outstanding women from across the pond can join in the fun. Anytime, many times, it's all good.

Edited to finish a sentence.

I am all for this. But wait for mmmmeeeeee.

Maybe we could orchestrate things so that there is a girlie pajama party and some kind of poker night (yawn, whatever) for the guys. Not that women aren't good at poker from time to time, or that guys never wear pjs.

And then of course some sort of grand all genders and sexualities and, indeed all species fiesta, with some new mexican food to add spice.

Listen, I'm pedaling as fast as I can...

And while I described that scenario above, I don't actually think we need to wait for that kind of organization. Fred wouldn't be patient anyway.
