Hello everyone.

That is so true, BBB... bullying is everywhere. It has always been there but I think it has gotten worse. There is so much meanness out there it is disheartening. All a person can do is maintain their own integrity and dignity and hope that it rubs off on some of those bullies.

BBB and CJ, bullying seems to be at epidemic proportions now. Here in Albuquerque, there are many gangs that encourage taking of lives and bullying. The thought of being courteous is anathema to them. The problem is, they serve as the only family some of the kids have.

Having a sense of community, as msolga said, or a family, or caring for others, seems sadly old fashioned.

The old man wandering around with a lamp, made this old woman laugh so hard that I almost...

Gelisgesti, you have searched the web for the very best sites. One of my favorites was the Iraqi girl blog. I now have access to her family.

I start reading and find myself going farther and farther into the midst of the family. The comments are almost as interesting as the blogs.

Good morning all, herein lies wisdom ..... or so one would think

This seems oddly appropriate:

It's a still life water color,
Of a now late afternoon,
As the sun shines through the curtained lace
And shadows wash the room.
And we sit and drink our coffee
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
The borders of our lives.

Here is one you may have missed:

Here is the description of the video.

Quote:
Women's beauty has inspired artists since the dawn of culture. Many of you have probably seen this, but I couldn't resist giving it some more air time. The creator ingeniously melded together 100s of paintings of women through 500 years of art, giving the effect of a (mostly) seamless morph of one woman's face. Watch the eyes as they look at you then through you, then coyly look away, then peer at some distant vision of utopia we may never know.

Oh for pity's sake, JLN, you sound like a Southern Baptist--having fun must be a sin.

So get a grip, you lovely buddhist.

So yes, I know about the bitchiness, crabbiness, esthetic purity and all the other traits that make you an absolutely, quintessentially difficult woman. And it's all part of a pretty interesting, honest, complex package that I love.

Actually, sometimes I know we enjoy each other's bitchiness. Remember when we were discussing friends? Those that are a little off center (mostly to the left of center) are the most interesting.

I think that the degree of off-centeredness of the friend has to be directly proportional to the degree of off-centeredness of the person who has the friend. Too much craziness in a friendship can be a challenge. By this I mean that many (not all) of my friends are less meshuga than I. A nice balancing act of me bouncing off the walls and them watching be bounce.

As for difficult, I'll like you to find somebody who isn't, in one way or another. Here again, it's a matter of degree. We've all got our ideosyncracies.

Hey Roberta, we have also talked about a little craziness being a good thing in a friendship--for us, not for everybody. And yes, I'm always willing to watch you bounce. Never sure which direction the bounce will happen...

Lash, thank you for making me feel wonderful--been needing it lately.

Even though we disagree on most things political, you are just crazy enough to be a great friend.
