just need a quick english-latin translation

Saw a motto on my uncles shirt and couldn't remember exactly how it went in latin: "Don't let the bastards get you down."

It was probably:

Illegitimi Non Carborundum
("Don't let the bastards grind you down")

But it's not really Latin. This is a fake-Latin phrase you see on a lot of
signs and plaques. It is said to have originated with General "Vinegar
Joe" Stilwell who used it as his motto in World War II.

Carborundum is the brand name of an abrasive (silicon carbide).
