Here is a photo link of Gavril Princip, whose actions indirectly led to over 100 millions deaths.

I believe it most likely would have occured regardless of his actions.

2 wars leading to the cold war and our present state of the world.

innocent looking guy.

Is he really responsible for anything other than protesting the domination of his country by Austria Hungary?

Dunno as I'd call Princep the villain - that title more rightly belongs to the folks who put him up to it. Just a kid at the time, and a deluded, sick one at that, Princep was nothin' more than a hapless, gullible, foolish, but zealous dupe, IMO.

I was wondering about that, timber. I saw this thread earlier.

Thanks for your efforts. I will sleep better tonight because of them.

Bosh. The whole overheated kettle was ready to blow up. If it hadn't been Gavril and if the Archduke had been spared, something else would have set it off. In 1914, Europe was a time bomb, waiting to explode.

Not much argument there, MA - even without the assassination, war was but weeks away and comim' on inevitably. If nothin' else, one or another of the opposin' armies on the move woulda bumped into an accommodatin' antagonist. I don't think Princip deserves the credit he gets.

The f*cking Spanish Flu of 1919-20 made the deaths of the last five years look pissweak in comparison! I hope you can supply us with a picture of 'Princep Influenza', the perpetrator of the pandemic.

Yup. Princip actually missed his chance the first time the automobile with Ferdinand and his wife went by. He didn't have the guts to shoot. It was only when the car turned around, because they made a wrong turn, that he scrounged up enough courage. There were others from his group at different locations in Sarajevo waiting to do the same. Nobody knew the route the kaiser will be taking. So if not Princip, it would have been someone else.

Welcome to A2K, 'Brian-OK'!!

Won't be checking out the image - too deathly afraid that the virus is planning a comeback!! Will make most other 'acts of God' look sick in comparison!
