The rest of that weekend went pretty awesome too. As if we don't have enough on our plate; I was approached the other day about a possible takeover of another property that's a little bigger and newer in a nearby town. The current tenant doesn't look like he's going to make it, and the place is beautiful. I can ill imagine where we'd find the time... but perhaps down the road a little... with a little help from Brooklyn ... we may consider it. Happy 4th all

Along with heartfelt congratulations and appreciation for doing a risky and difficult thing and pulling it off with class, my first thought here was: a) If you start another enterprise, we'll never see you and b) you won't ever have time for Brooklyn. I am a believer in one's vocation being fun. Smile

But then once you start expanding, you will no doubt entrust the right people with management and you could have infinitely more time for those things that make you most happy.

Your instincts have been right on so far. I think you can trust them.

Way to go, friend!

That actually doesn't sound like a bad offer right now. :wink: There are days I don't wanna get up and go to work anymore. That's sad, coming from someone that used to love her job. Sad Though I love a job that challenges me - my job has become way overboard on that one. The fact that I am meticulous adds to the daily frustrations.

I can't complain about my place of employment as far as promotions go. They have been very good to me. I just think that sometimes, I am not the one for this job. I love life too much, for anything to chain me down, to the point of having "no life" outside the doors of my employment. I went from being department head over the commercial loan side of things .... to having ALL the responsibility of what feels like the work load of half a dozen people combined.

Now being responsible for:
* recruiting - hiring - training, and mentoring of staff
* raising customer satisfaction
* taking underperforming areas of other branches in the state of Ohio and turning them around.
* sales and development
* setting in house goals and striving to exceed profitability
* developing budgets
* enforcing compliancy and setting the standards a step above

On a typical day - when I am on the phone, I have an average of two other lines lit up at the same time. An employee with problems bursting into my office. A higher up needing me to do something for them, pronto. And a seemingly neverending list of things that needed done yesterday, making me feel like I am under the gun constantly. All happening at the same time - making me feel like I am chasing my tail and never getting anywhere.

On top of all that ... I have some faithful past business clients that refuse to let anyone else in house handle their commercial accounts, except for me. Confused So I do those too.

I'm good at multi-tasking ..... but when you don't even have time to eat lunch, day after day, or take a break, or even breathe, for that matter - it's hard to enjoy what you are doing, over time.

So, Bill ........ I kid you not - even though I know that would have it's own set of challenges and frustrations..... it sounds pretty darn good right now. Very Happy

Yeah, he hits it big with a new popular restaurant, and all of a sudden he has no time for his old friends on A2K. Typical. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Record Friday Night... again... thanks for caring. I couldn't reconcile all the employee's banks, gave up, and bought several rounds for the 21+ adults and felt like an ass (not for the first time) for being unable to do the same for the 18+ers who earned the same, and no doubt drink as much anyway, but for some idiotic reason are prevented by law from being served like the adults they are. Get up here JP and the rest of you cool folks... I'm really looking forward to buying you a drink. My darling is swimming in busyness herself, but our time will come. Life's good in Cedarburg. Good night.

Since you can't buy your "minors" a drink, why not concoct the most elaborate, gaudy Shirley Temples your mind can comprehend?

Hold your dominion.

I have an aniversary coming up in August... sounds like the perfect excuse to make it up to Cedarburg.

I had a dream about your restaurant the other night Bill.

I was walking away from a 'different segment" of my dream when it began.
I was walking in a yard that had huge stone walls. On the tops of these walls were long thick vines that started somewhere on the opposite side. The stones of the walls were constructed in a fanciful " King Arthur " style. Huge stones with mud packed in between them. Old and worn , you could see light in some places between them.
The middle of this yard was full of different herbs. Most of them yellow in color ( chamomile, yarrow etc..) They were all sort of planted randomly down the very center of the yard and very little , if any, room to walk between them. It was someones personal herb garden so i was trying to tiptoe between the plants , like a 3 year old trying to sneak away from an imaginary ghost... but fast!
As I approached the end of the yard, I saw a long lattice over hang that was covered with grape vines. I started walking underneath the vines and as I craned my head up to see them, I noticed, by every dangling bunch of grapes, there was a sign tied to the wood work.
The signs were large pieces of copper with hand painted words. One of the signs said " These grapes you see will sweeten your bread for dinner"
Another said " Don't litter. Grapes drink what you throw"
Even the grape vines spelled out words, but between the signs , I couldn't see enough of it to make them out.
After reading the signs , I started to crawl. I made my way to the door of the restaurant , wich was at the end of the grape vines , and saw another sign.
It was a big piece of white paper , and written in black permanent marker it said " " Bill Occoms Food Stop "" ( Laughing )
Below that, in scratchy writing was a 'menu'.
Silver and spaghetti served tomorrow
Cultured custard
Label sandwiches.

I crawled into the door wich was a big perfect circle in a brown adobe wall.
Inside the restaurant, the walls were done in adobe as well, but painted yellow. There were paper mache donkeys in the corners, red chilis hanging around the windows and large boards of wood affixed to the walls in random places.
In the center of the room was a big horseshoe booth. Large enough to seat about 10 people, the coverings of the seat and table were shiny black and had white lines painted across the bottom.
You ( OB ) were sitting at this table by yourself eating chips that were bright pink and about as big as your hand.
We never exchanged words, but I got the idea that the restaurant wasn't 'working' anymore and I couldn't get any food.
It seems to me that I explored a little more, but I woke up soon after and I Don't remember the details.

strange.

[quote="Dennis R. Getto" (the make you or break you Critic in Wisconsin)"]Bistro's splendid menu fits locale
The stately Victorian at Western and Washington avenues. in Cedarburg has been home to several restaurants, but the Cedarburg Bistro's impressive menu should give the new eatery the kind of staying power others couldn't muster.http://graphics.jsonline.com/onwisconsin/art/star3.gif
