Agreed by Jo, er, osso. Listen, you have a bunch of us from varied political spectra wishing you well. One day I'll claim my glass of single malt, but in the meantime I'm very happy you're engaged and making it work.

Thanks you guys! Walter, after Ten you could pretty much shoot a cannon ball down the main street in town and hit nothing. My liquor license allows me to serve until 2:00 a.m., and occasionally I do, but mostly there isn't business to support it. A visit from any of you would certainly qualify for an exception. My new friends from France, Pome andRomain, set the record by entertaining me until the Sun came up just last week. I look forward to more such encounters. Smile

Awesome, Bill!

I'm sure those minor "service gaffes" are remedied by now.

You're the talk of the town and I'm sure, the "Michelin" will

Great review! Jeez, though, the "service gaffes" were foreshadowed in a way that I thought it'd be that the waitress was seen picking her nose, or something. Touching the glass? All of the leftovers in the same container? Seems small-time to me.

soz- I think that reviewers of every kind have to throw in some kind of a curve, lest they be thought to be brown nosers. I had the same reaction as you. The remarks DID seem petty, considering the rave reviews of the food.

Anyhow, all in all, I think that Bill's place got a fantastic review!

Thanks you guys! The result couldn't have been any better, as any better we'd have gone beyond what we could handle. We did run out of plenty but have so far handled everything in reasonable stride, which is of course what we hoped to do.
Needless to say, another record weekend... and I'd better get some sleep because it isn't over yet.
Even busting capacity my partner's food was oohhed and ahhhed and our servers kept everything in stride. I found a partner bartender who rocks! No experience, but a hardworking darling who charmed the hell out of everyone while I made half the drinks and chased the stairs a zillion times keeping us stocked. Limited space blows, and if you've seeen the pics of our bar you must know what I mean.
I'm not exactly unbiased... but I'd say we're doing pretty well. We did miss Brooklyn this weekend, but what else is new? What was it; all good things come to those who wait?...

This is small town America, Walter, where the motto is "There's a time called midnight???" By eleven o'clock in middle America the sidewalks are rolled up, the cat is put out and the a/c sings everyone to sleep.

So happy for you, Bill. I love fried olives and the rest of the food sounds wonderful.

Service Note:
Once I had to tell a waiter that we wanted another load of bread because the way he had carried it to the table

...er, he had brought the water pitcher and the glasses and the bread all at once.
..... water pitcher-right hand,
glasses-left hand,
bread-in his left armpit....
.... luckily he had forgotten the butter.

Joe(hmmm this bread is still warm,,,,,)Nation

Only just now read the review - outstanding!

Personally, I'd be appreciative of the criticisms re: service. So easily remedied...I would have noticed them as well (but I worked for years in the industry, long ago in a different life, perhaps that makes me more --particular, in this regard).

Another update, please.

Thanks JoeBlow

Sorry I haven't been updating lately. We've had a very busy summer. Perhaps I'll write in more detail again soon. It seems like I've been doing this for years and years, not (only 7 months Shocked).

The Fire Marshal finally showed up and put the kybosh on the Tiki Torches (our single best eye grabbing idea to date.) In truth, he only beat me by a few weeks anyway, because once the leaves start falling; they truly would be a foolish fire risk... So... we decided to do Halloween early

(Click the thumb for larger images )

Sorry about the crappy photography. Embarrassed Perhaps it would work better during the day. Rolling Eyes Anyway, I replaced each of the torches with a lit pumpkin, and placed a straw man (I know ya'll must be shocked ) between each. Razz I get 10 "great jobs" for every "tacky". Shrugs. Our local Weatherman, John Malan brought a camera crew out the other day to film it, and interview some of the characters, so it's definitely having the desired effect.
