Brooklyn- I need a hostess on Friday... bad!

Careful now .... that's a temptation I might find hard to resist. And once there, I may never want to leave. Especially if I get to go stand on "my bridge." Very Happy
Who said you have to leave?
Trying to expand to lunch now and I don't have the staff. AD hasn't yielded me a bartender, or servers yet. I may have to go lure them away from a cheaper place. Much to tell, but no time to do it.

There's too many A2Kers to buy them all dinner Material Girl but I'll get everyone's first drink. Heeven the menu is currently leaning Italian (expensive) but will soon transition to "American Regional"... think traditional with the highest quality ingredients and sauces to die for. Chef's specials are so far met with an array of oohs and ahhhs so I'm pretty confident about that.

Thanks all for the well-wishes, hugs and votes of confidence. I try to post more pics soon (yours were gorgeous by the way darling )

Bill, I'm about 20 mins south of the IL-WI border on I-294. How much further is it to your place?

I'm guessing it takes you 30 minutes from there to get to downtown Milwaukee... and I'm about another 17 miles North on I43, then 3 or 4 miles West on Hwy C (Pioneer Rd), and then about a mile north on Washington Ave on the left you'll see an attractive Victorian House on the corner (T) of Washington and Western. A block or so further on the other side of the road is Brooklyn's Bridge.

What made Milwaukee famous?

('twas only a joke, a double entendre intended as a bookmark)

Good luck and godspeed with the restaurant venture, O'Bill

The Brooklyn Bridge in Wisconsin. How awesome is that! Very Happy Bill, I hope you don't mind but I snagged your newest bridge pics. They are almost exactly as I remember it - with the benches. Smile

*sighs* Soon, I hope.

Was thinking about you and hoping that things weren't too hectic for you Friday night.

Friday and Saturday were slower this week than last, because there was nothing going on at the cultural center. My bartending skills are improving. Hired 2 new waitresses and a food runner so now I'm a bit more comfortable there. Today we continued work on the landscaping, removed the storm windows from the second floor and emptied the "grease trap" Shocked for the first time in God knows how long. If you don't know what that is; be grateful. We'll continue landscaping this week (saving thousands by doing it ourselves) and hopefully finish the painting too. Wow, what a lot of maintainance these old houses are. Some time soon, I must find time to catch up on the mountain of accounting I'm accumulating. I still haven't figured out any of that software. We did find a local artist who's very familiar with the city's uncommonly thorough sign codes to help us get one together and passed. Theorizing nothing says "OPEN" like an open flame, I also picked up 8 copper tiki torches to add to the fence line. Between that and the propane outdoor heaters, perhaps I can draw some extra folks. Boy, am I beat.

This all sounds very promising.

I know what a grease trap is, by the way, being in that line of business myself, in a roundabout kind of way.

O'Bill, I almost missed this thread since I don't explore a2k very much.

Congratulations on your new restaurant!! Yours is the kind of place that always attracts me---the setting is gorgeous.

All the best to you. I have loved reading the posts between you and Brook. Even though we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum, I am a hopeless romantic and the two of you turn my heart to mush. If we ever make it up that way, I hope to see you both working together to make a lifetime of memories.

Awww what a sweet thing to say, Diane. Embarrassed http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/heavens_just_a_kiss_away/hug.gif Thank you.

Bill,
I watched my brother going through similar things when he bought his restaurant. He knew a little bit about owning your own business, since he already had a small excavation company. The restaurant was more for his wife. Or so he thought. He ended up having a bigger part in it than was planned. Drove him nuts for awhile. In the long run, things leveled off and he wasn't needed as much. He's 29 and has certainly been a busy boy trying to find his little niche' in life. But, I think he has it now. His wife wants to get pregnant again. If she does.....it might mean he will have to get more involved again, though. Hopefully they can plan it all out so he will be needed during the winter months when his other business slows down some.

I was telling my Mom about you and how you bought this restaurant in Cedarburg close to "my bridge." Very Happy I asked her if they had any pictures of that bridge. She said she would look when she gets more time. Right now, with the weather so dry in Ohio....they have been busy getting the fields ready to plant. Anyhow, I will post them if she runs across any.

I think life has a way of providing us with things that will make our heart content. We just have to be brave enough and wise enough - to see them, and grab ahold of them when they are in front of us, and not them pass by. I'm proud of you. You didn't let this pass by.

Here's a warm hug for your tired body at the end of your day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/heavens_just_a_kiss_away/hug.gif

I'd love it! Plus I think I have the only nonsmoking bar in town, so you won't be so damn tempted.

I'm glad you didn't, darlin. You're so sweet. I hate it that I'm probably missing out on lots of good threads lately, but this thing is just monopolizing my time.

Thanks much. The Washington House Inn across from Brooklyn's Bridge would be perfect for you.

(Smiles from ear to ear) I like the way you think.

I like the way you think too! Maybe man. Maybe. Each day I become more impressed with my partner Chef Jeff's ability to cook. The response has been nothing shy of astounding and the local folks are pulling for us hard. I love this town.

Still smiling from ear to ear. This is more work than any 3 projects I've taken on in the past combined. I knew I should have went for a Pizza place! Smile Still improving at bartender... and still could use your help darling. Heck, I might even be able to find something for you to do around the restaurant. (Returns virtual hug and takes another real one out of inventory and puts it in reserve.)

I've much to tell, but no time now to do it. Sad Soon, I promise! Smile

Till then ((((((((((Brooklyn))))))))) ((((((((((Diane))))))))

Indeed, as McTag says.

(I must admit, however, that I couldn't follow a lot here: I'm the most time outsite to get my smoke.)

You European's are too kind. Thank you and I wish you well as well.

I found the upper flat I was looking for just 2 doors down so next month I can cut the hour and a half of wheel time off of my 16 hour days! 20 yards of purple and gold mulch now grab eye balls by day, while 24 TIKI torches are poised to do that job at night. Considering expanding patio seating for this summer, but hesitant to spend the dough. Our super tiny bar is already stressed to capacity, so I think those upgrades need to go together (and I thought stocking the damn thing was expensive Shocked). We'll see.
Night all.
