We have family from out west coming to visit over Easter. They include a sister in law and two grandparents. One grandparent cannot walk for long distances. Any suggestions for places to visit and sights that may be interesting to such a group? They have visited Boston before so we will forgo the typically trolley type tour. We also could only do day trips as one of our children is in school so overnight trips would not be possible.
Thanks, George. My kids do love the Children’s Museum, however, I am looking to entertain the grownups a little more as we can always go to the museum. Maybe something in between. I know the grandparents want to visit Martha’s Vineyard, so we plan on doing a day trip on one of the days my daughter does not attend school. And my SIL wants to visit the Christian Science Center. I was thinking of a tour to Fenway Park. The last time they were all here to visit, I bought Red Sox tickets to a game (this was before kids) and of course the Red Sox will not be at Fenway next week.
I've been on the Fenway tour with my youngest when he was in fifth grade. We loved it.
Have you taken a harbor tour?
Or for something out of the ordinary, Wolf Hollow in Ipswich. You could also stop by Castle Hill (also in Ipswich) or Hammond Castle in Gloucester.
I have taken some of the harbor tours, but I doubt our family members have. This may also be nice for the grandparents as little walking is involved. I have never visited either spot you mentioned. I have heard of the Hammond Castle and Castle Hill, but am not familiar with Wolf Hollow. I will have to look them up and see what they are about.
Thanks, again.
The Hahbah tour leaves fom Long Wof.
For a fun evening out - adults only, no kids allowed - take them to
Medieval Manor
or
Mystery Cafe if you like mysteries/murder while you eat dinner.
Hey Heeven, you coming to the A2K gathering in Cambridge?
If all of you fancy it, you could do some pottery painting (fun for all the family) adults and kids together. There used to be a place in the Back Bay (Newbury Street) but I couldn't find it on the web. I found this website instead, giving a list of places you can do pottery painting.
Paint Your Own Pottery.
Thanks for all your suggestions! Although I would love the Medieval Manor - have known about it for years, I think it may be too much for the grandparents. The Mystery Cafe does fall more into place and there is one locally.
I also know of a pottery place near by, however, I have to make sure it is not just a kiddie place.
