Virginity

Hi, my friend asked me a question to which I have no idea, so perhaps someone can help.
My friends wife told him that she was a virgin when he married her, but has just found out that she was far from it. Twenty years have passed so he is not bothered now anyway, but for a explanation.
His wife told him that her hymen was broken by a doctor who was checking for hormone imbalance and that a internal examination was carried out. Bearing in mind this happened 20yrs ago, I always thought that hormone problems were diagnosed thru urine/saliva and blood testing. She had sex afterwards with her boyfriend but says that he did not break her hymen.
What do you think is a internal examination just a story or is it possible?

So what?

Read about hymens on the internet. They come in all shapes and sizes. There are no two exactly alike. Some will tear, some will stretch upon penetration. The existence or nonexistence of an "intact" hymen means nothing. A woman is a virgin if she has never had sexual intercourse. Likewise, a man is a virgin if he has never had sexual intercourse.

What is the big deal about this woman's hymen as it existed twenty years ago? I think there are far more important things in life to discuss.

Usually as part of an overall gynecological exam, that would include hormone problems, my answer would be YES. It is, in fact, almost routine. If any woman of any age goes to her doctor and they suspect a hormone imbalance, say because her periods are irregular or for whatever....99% of the time a physical exam of the vagina, cervix, uterus and ovaries are examined. They examine externally, and palpate internally for fibroids, swelling, unusual placement and size of the organs.

Yes, yes, yes....I would not doubt this woman for a minute.

And please, don't yell in your future posts no matter how frustrated you are over an answer. Yelling serves no purpose here. Just a bit of friendly advice. Smile

sevenforeseven- If you are new to the internet, let me explain that writing all in capital letters is considered "yelling".

If they wanted to do a wet mount (a sample of her internal tissue) of couse they'd have to go in from the vagina. I get one of these fabulous (eye roll) exams each year.

And just for information, the hymen can be broken by almost anything. If you ride a bike as a little girl, chances are your hymen isn't in tact when you start menstruating and even greater chances it isn't in tact the first time you have sex. Girls are far to active as children.

Virginity is not determined by whether your hymen is in tact or not. It is determined on whether or not you have had sexual intercourse.

Conduct a google search:

"Hormonal imbalance" "pelvic examination"

You should be able to verify "her story." I just don't see the point in investigating this woman to prove or disprove whether she is a liar concerning the status of her hymen 20 years ago.

What difference does it make whether her hymen was breached by a pelvic examination or by her first sexual partner?

It seems that you and her husband are looking for problems that don't exist.

You don't get the point, Husker.
sevenforseven's friend's wife is Angela Vicario, from "Chronicle of a Death Foretold".
Someone just saved his skin, but the Vicario brothers are after the doctor who broke the woman's hymen 20 years ago.

Oh, I do love the Middle Ages!

Reminds me of the playboy bunny of the year's name - I lived in a small apartment tacked on the back of a duplex where she lived. Ne'er mind slutsy fun, what I heard was bellowing from both she and b/friend. I was pretty young in experience then and just turned my music louder. Nothing was sexy, it was all yelling.

Ah, well, back to the topic.

All this is none of the poster's business.
The woman was a virgin regarding sexual experience/ or not.

Most gynecologists do vaginal physicals if symptoms warrant and many young women have symptoms of dysmenorrhea and other problems.

Whether the poster's informants of this woman's non-virginity are correct or not (and many lives have been ruined by rumor), it is none of his business. I'll state further, it is actually not her husband's business.

I know this is a cultural question, but that is my very strong opinion.
