@cicerone imposter,
That's because other economies are weakening with their currency, and people will look for places where the economy is relatively strong to park their money; the US.

The US of A can get out of financial trouble by facing reality, and like all reality it will be painful.

Americans should for the first time EVER pay the going rate for gas like the rest of us have to do.

The going rate in Europe is around $10 per gall, USA price $3

Stop printing money you don't have

@lovejoy,
Funny analysis coming from the part of the world where most countries are in debt up to their eyeballs, and can't pay on their bonds.

@lovejoy,
Those are good points. Not to niggle, but you do you know that gas at $10.00 per gallon holds to that price due to taxes, don't you? Also, prices around here are running around $3.60/gal. Still, it's a good point. A higher price would lower consumption, help with balance of payments, reduce air pollution, and do more to stimulate production of fuel efficient vehicles than all the subsidies that come out of Washington.

Might be best to leave taxes on heavy Diesel vehicles alone, just to keep the economy moving, and that wouldn't be difficult. All the interstate trucking companies are turning in an IFTA report every quarter. The same report could be a basis for a refund of taxes on heavy trucking.

@lovejoy,
The US can't pay $10 for gas due to the distances they need to travel. And want to travel.

Printing money makes no difference to the wealth. Until you get your head around psycho-economics you'll never understand the systems we are operating now. They have next to nothing to do with real economics.

It's a psychological problem that ci. wants to "see the world" and farmerman wants to do a 40 mile round trip for a pizza. What's your estimate of the cost of the goods that are currently in the wardrobes and cupboards of the dressing rooms of US ladies and are not in use. Conspicuous consumption is now a psychological need.

The power of TV in private hands was underestimated.

But our great leader, President Obama has promised us that all bills will be paid.
Too bad the gent didn't add that he'll have 90+ year olds digging coal in West Virginia to pay their health bills.

@Miller,
Strange is it not that we are the only industry society on the planet without universal health care and even such countries as Mexico have such a program.

In fact I was just talking about the health care system with an American now living and working in Cancun Mexico and he could not praise the Mexican
system high enough.

Of course I guess it hard to paid for such a program when all the wealth is being lock up by a fraction of a percent of the total population.

Last note such care is less costly per person then the crazy system of paying private insurance companies we not have and a one payer universal health care program would be far less expensed then the mess we are now under.

@BillRM,
Most industrialized countries have universal health care. Americans prefer that wealth must be accumulated to the richest.

@BillRM,
Any problems in our health care system are the responsibility of the Minister of Health, the Cabinet and the Government.

It seems to me that US politicians are avoiding that responsibility. And it might be sensible that they do so even if it constitutes not governing.

Just reported.

Quote:

Portion of Americans Living in Poverty Rises to Highest Level Since 1993

A Census Bureau report also found that median household incomes declined by 2.3 percent in 2010, in a sign of the toll the economic slump has taken.

This country doesn't need a "jobs plan." It needs jobs, but the GOP will hinder any "jobs plan." Wonder when they're going to come up with their "jobs plan?"

More tax cuts for the rich.

The DEMS have been very quiet about our continually loosing good jobs over the last 30 years, except to claim that what we are looking at is not a lose of jobs but a realignment of jobs. We certainly have noticed the jobs that we have lost, the good jobs that we have gain that we were told that would replace them not so much.

Neither party has any credibility on this issue.

This year's unfunded US Federal Government spending $1.28 TRILLION

Last year's unfunded US Federal Government spending $1.29 TRILLION

Recovery?? .......We ain't got none

Note: the Government is consistently overspending by over $4,000 per year per person. That folks, is significant.

The director of the CBO today put his stamp of endorsement on the American Jobs Act that Obama has proposed.

That's going to make it more difficult for Boehner and his cronies to screw with, without repudiating a lot of earlier comments they have made.

@Cycloptichorn,
It is very easy to not pass the Obama bill

Quote:
Obama's top political adviser David Axelrod said Tuesday that the administration was unwilling to break up the president’s $447 billion jobs plan if Republicans were only receptive to passing certain elements.

"We're not in a negotiation to break up the package. It's not an à la carte menu. It's a strategy to get this country moving,” Axelrod said Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"The president has a package; the package works together. We need to do many things to get this economy moving," Axelrod said.

http://thehill.com/video/administration/181115-axelrod-suggests-obama-unwilling-to-break-up-jobs-bill

All they need to do is point out that Obama was not willing to work with the REPUB's towards a consensus....that he is more interesting in playing political games than he is in getting a bill passed.

EDIT: Cantor I think it was two days ago has already made it clear that the Obama "IT'S GOING TO BE MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY!" approach will not work, it is disrespectful of Congress and the Constitution, and they they will nail him for trying to pull this BS.

@Cycloptichorn,

Obama and his cronies are screwing with America's economic future.
Obama's so-call 'jobs bill' is nothing more than a new and huge tax bill... it will not pass, it must not pass.

Has it even been filed??

@hawkeye10,
You got to be kidding me with the comment my way or the highway in regards to Obama when the GOP had turn that into an art form.

In any case the GOP will not do anything that might help the economic before the next election as they placed the welfare of their party far beyond the welfare of the country.

Even if that is true, which I doubt, Obama is stupid to give them cover...a very good reason to no act on a job stimulus bill.

Obama has turned the Rahm Doctrine on its head....Obama, never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Likewise, we are again seeing here the Obama tendency to be a gratuitous prick.
