You agree that Liberals appear to be becoming even more vile than ever before.

@H2O MAN,
Is That a question or a statement?
Either way the liberals in that video did seem to be vile toward tea party members when they sneak into a tea party gathering, "to find out what is being preached to it's members!
Don't you think that most teabagers would think so?

@H2O MAN,
It is only a word that quickly identifies with a movement, it was not meant as some may use it, The word has no real meaning to me other than a group of people I was not trying to be sarcastic when I used it!

@H2O MAN,
If you want to use it as an emotional word be my guest! It was only meant to be a shorthand word for me and I myself find it ignorant to put people down!

If you prefer I can use a different word!

I do have a question for you though!

Do you think that the activities in the video were demom like?

@H2O MAN,
Yes it was a mistake, "because like I have said before, "I {do} think that it is intellectually retarded to intentionally offend people as it does nothing for a conversation other than build up emotional conflict!

Tomorrow, after the 2 day Fed meeting concludes, Ben Bernanke will hold a press conference with the media. Unprecedented. I am surprised and a little concerned. I think I would have preferred it to be held Friday after the markets close in the event he makes a major or even minor gaffe in the Q & A which could be clarified over the week-end. I am also a bit skeptical of the media who will be asking him the questions. Do they really know enough about the subject matter to ask cogent questions.
I know that his staff has been peppering him with hypothetical questions. But they, like him, are economists. Will he be ready for some off the wall question from the likes of Biff or Buffy.
We shall see. I will be watching it.

Quote:
American politics are trundling along as usual. But this stability is misleading. The current arrangements are stagnant but also fragile. American politics is like a boxing match atop a platform. Once you’re on the platform, everything looks normal. But when you step back, you see that the beams and pillars supporting the platform are cracking and rotting.

This cracking and rotting is originally caused by a series of structural problems that transcend any economic cycle: There are structural problems in the economy as growth slows and middle-class incomes stagnate. There are structural problems in the welfare state as baby boomers spend lavishly on themselves and impose horrendous costs on future generations. There are structural problems in energy markets as the rise of China and chronic instability in the Middle East leads to volatile gas prices. There are structural problems with immigration policy and tax policy and on and on.

As these problems have gone unaddressed, Americans have lost faith in the credibility of their political system, which is the one resource the entire regime is predicated upon. This loss of faith has contributed to a complex but dark national mood. The country is anxious, pessimistic, ashamed, helpless and defensive.

@hawkeye10,
You very well may be correct on this issue but are you correct most of the times or only sometimes?

I am at least partially right often enough that I have a learned confidence in my ability to figure things out.

@hawkeye10,
I try to share with others something that I find value in. I think that I can always be wrong and I am open to a new or better understanding of reality.

Who knows, "you may be able to share with me some sort of logical reasoning that may change my confirmation bias to where I am able to see reality more correctly than what I do at the moment!

@JPB,
I was reading today, Jaye, about the states' shortfall in pension funding. It is listed as being $1.26 trillion. I, as a one time CPA, know a bit about government accounting which uses rules different then those that apply to the private sector. I won't go into a lot of detail unless you need a cure for insomnia. The conclusion is that the true shortfall is more like $4 trillion.
One of the big contributors is that governments assume a rate of return on investments of 8% going forward. That is the kind of manipulating of the numbers that state and local governments have used for years to hide the fact that a financial tsunami is coming.

@realjohnboy,
Some local governments understand the pension tsunami is facing us, and the San Jose City Council have now made the decision to lay off 106+ cops or 9%, and overall, the city will cut 600 jobs.

You're right about how governments have been overstating return on investments, and have in the past given bonuses to retirees when times were good. Now that the pension funds are showing huge deficits, they are unwilling to cut benefits.

They have no financial management skills.
