I saw this new supplement advertised on TV called Conquer Ha. It is suppose to lubricate your joints so they won't cause you pain anymore. Does this stuff really work and is it safe to use.

I would definitely want to research any new medication before using it, and the internet is a great place for that.

Personally I've never heard of it.

Neither have I, but several others on forum and myself have had great results with the Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM combination. You might use the a2k search function on Glucosamine and see what turns up. I also couldn't find Conquer ha in the Swanson catalog. I do give Swanson a high, and unsolicited endorsement, by the way. They are on the net as swansonvitamins.

Essentially, its a compound based on hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), which has been used for joint pain relief in dogs and horses for decades. For horses, the brand we use (apple-flavored, BTW - smells pretty "appley", but I really dunno how it tastes Smile ) indicates a initial therapeutic dose of 1/2 ounce per day for 2 weeks, followed by every-other-day 1/2 ounce supplementals for 4 weeks, then once-or-twice weekly 1/4 ounce maintenance dosages, added to regular mixed-grain feed, per 1100 lb of animal bodyweight. In veterinary bulk pack (5 pound), it works out to about $2.50/oz. Never tried it for dogs. Seems to work pretty good on horses, though. Its never occurred to me to ask the Vet for an opinion re human application.

Hi Charlotte and welcome to A2K. Smile

First things first, let me say I am absolutely crazy about your son. Smile No news to you I am sure, that he is an absolute gem!! I have been wanting to meet you for the longest time and I know it will happen in due time. Personally, I can hardly wait, he has told me so many wonderful things about you. Smile

I've been reading about the Conquer HA and there doesn't seem to be anything in it that can cause any harm, although the med label does list the caution that you should consult with your physician if you are taking any prescription medications, are pregnant or nursing (wouldn't that be a shocker!!) Also people with cancer, liver or kidney disease should not take this medication. Well...after reading of the warnings on the label and hearing testimonials that it is so safe, I dug a little further on the actual component of HA (Hyaluronic Acid) to find out why it , in itself would be risky for some individuals. I found an interesting article by a woman named Sandra Simmons who appears to have studied HA to great length.
Here is the link to her article if you have not read it already:

Again, I am very glad that you are here and I hope you stick around and get to know some of the different forums and posters within. There is definitely something for everyone here.

Looking forward to the future!

Jan
