I am sooooooooo telling George W on you, georgeob.

(montana, do a search on georgeob's name and the word Canada. You'll discover a man in serious need of fibre added to his diet)

Actually I go weeks at a time without thinking about Canada or Canadians.

But you dream about it/them on daily/nightly basis - right?

If you spend weeks not thinking about Canada, my guess is that you're not in business (at least not of the international variety). I'm glad that Martin and Bush are getting along (despite the nasty rumors).

U.S. Export Partners: Canada 23.4%, Mexico 13.5%, Japan 7.2%, UK 4.7%, Germany 4%

U.S. Import Partners: Canada 17.4%, China 12.5%, Mexico 10.7%, Japan 9.3%, Germany 5.3%

Data based on 2003 figures (source: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html)

Not to mention that we have the longest undefended border in the world between us. Treating Canada poorly 'could', I suppose, change that and that (along with them being our best trade partner) would truly be a shame.

I read recently that Canada has ramped up their defense spending, and although I'm happy to see that, since I believe it's in our (the U.S.) best interest, it will be nowhere near what it was years ago.

Their creeping socialism, national health care and Eurostyle attitudes make it necessary that they stretch their limited defense dollars and IMO it's best spent on conventional 'everyday' hardware to benefit their troops.

I don't think we really need their help to build the ABM. Just as long as Canadians are aware it might not defend Canada all that well. Smile
