Can the Bible Help with relieve Depression?

Many doctors in psychiatry have noted an increase in depression among youths. Especially those in mid-grade to high school. How might the Bible be an effective aid in helping a person deal successfully with depression?

@anthony1312002,
There is research that religious faith can help with relieving depression... particularly inside of a strong community. The Bible can help as part of that.

@maxdancona,
So true maxdancona,

A Good example of this involves the Psalmist. One Bible writer prayed to God: “From the depths of my despair I call to you.” This psalmist dealt with his depression by remembering that God doesn’t burden us with guilt. Instead, he said to God: “If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned? But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you.”—Psalm 130:1, 3, 4, Good News Translation.

Balance the book on your head and walk about quoting lines from it.

The improvement in posture and concomitant posturing will make you appear brighter.

@sarahanry,
I am trying to be helpful here...

Religious faith can help with depression, in at least two ways.

1) It helps form an identity, a personal narrative and an understanding of how your life has value. It is pretty clear from research that having a strong belief system and a set goals helps with mental health. Religion can be a healthy way to develop this.

2) It provides a community of people who have the same values, beliefs and a common language to communicate. The rituals around life events can be a powerful way to express beauty or process grief.

If the Bible (or the Quran, the Bhagdavida or Feminist Mystique) isn't helping you to build up your beliefs and values, or forming a supportive community, then it is just a religious book.

@anthony1312002,
Depression is an unclean spirit. And only the bible teaches how to get rid of unclean spirits.

@Agent1741,
Also try adding physical activity with The Holy Bible. Any sort of physical activity which can assist you from becoming 'severe' in depression. Such severity can lead to 'idleness' which can lead to sluggardness. This could result in not wanting to open your eyes while on your bed. And definitely not wanting to get out of bed.

Some sort of physical activity to prevent/keep the idleness, the sluggardness and the lazy far away. These 3 things can cause a person to come into 'want', or poverty.

Deuteronomy 28:12 "The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: ..."

The LORD does 'multiply' that which one already 'has'.

Asking The LORD for The Holy Spirit could also help.

Luke 11:13 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

Romans 8:11 "... if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

@mark noble,
The LORD, The Father.
God, The 'holy' Spirit.
(J)esus Christ, The Only Begotten Son.

(J)ohn 4:24 "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."

004:171
SAHIH INTERNATIONAL
O People of the Scripture, do not commit excess in your religion or say about Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers. And do not say, "Three"; desist - it is better for you. Indeed, Allah is but one God. Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs.

The LORD - The Father
Allah - God (one)
(J)esus Christ - The Messiah

Exercise/physical labor is part of a basic anti-hedonist mentality that helps depression by achieving continence of desire in all forms. Containing desire and resisting pleasure-for-its-own sake causes you to look forward to deferred pleasure, which in turn strengthens your endurance for whatever you have to endure in the present.

Unrestricted indulgence (hedonism), on the other hand, causes you to always expect to get whatever you want and be unsatisfied and upset if you don't, like a baby or spoiled child. The negative feelings you experience when you're not indulging in pleasure build up into all sorts of cognitive-emotional experiences that lead in the direction of depression.

You have to build up endurance and perseverance so that you can look forward to good goals you seek to achieve/realize at some point, but which you can work patiently toward instead of becoming upset at not getting what you want right away.

@livinglava,
Every 12,068 yrs the magnetic poles 'flip' - This reverses Earth's rotation and resets life on Earth - Hence your fragmented timeline.
Next one's due Oct 16th, 2046.
'Micronova'.

The '27' yrs between Now and then - Are, WELL, documented - If you know where to look.
