Seroquel was prescribed to my wife for insomnia. I've also taken it on several occasions, but I swore it off long ago. The day-after reaction is nasty ... worse than a hang-over ... not really groggy, but actually extremely depressed and lethargic for the day. My wife has continued to take it periodically, it does make you sleep, but she claims she'll never use it again for the same reasons. I asked her doctor about this, but he claims he's heard no complaints. Has anyone had any experience with this drug?
seroquel is also used as a mood stabilizer and an assistant to depacote. Wich is an antipsychotic.
used for a sleep aid? ... strange...
but i can see it working that way.
Right, I knew it had other uses. Prior to Seroquel, she was taking Ativan which used to be effective in small doses. Eventually, she had to take larger doses and much too frequently. Ativan's addictive, so that's why she requested something different.
prescribing seroquel for insomnia is borderline irresponisble, given the side effect profile and abundance of short acting benzodiazepams/other sedatives available. do we know the whole story, whooda? psychiatric history, alcohol use?
