I'm visiting Vietnam for the first time this month, so I'll have to remember "chuc mung nam moi." It that pronounced as it's spelled?

really? Warmly welcome to Vietnam! r u American? have u ever been in Vietnam or this is the first time u 've been in Vietnam?

If u visit Hanoi Capital, u should visit Temple of Literature first (Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam in Vietnamese)- that is the first University of Vietnam, itz built since 1070.

My friend & I beside a Drum that is the third biggest one in the world in Van Mieu

I visit this site by chance bcoz i'm concerning about G.W.Bush's State of Union Speech while i'm searching in Google and it links to Politic box :), although my English isn't good.

"Chuc Mung" = Happy (Greeting), "Nam Moi" = New Year = "Tan Nien" but "Nam Moi" is pure Vietnamese and be used popular, and "Tan Nien" is borrowed (sound like) from Chinese.

This is "Chuc Mung Nam Moi" in real Vietnamese:

I dont have a condition to record its pronounce, but that sentence isnt pronounced like English, and itz clearly when u learn a bit Vietnamese Smile

U can browse this link 2 know some actions to welcome Lunar New Year in Hanoi:

masterbkhn, Yes, I'm American of Japanese ancestry - third generation. Our grandfather came to the US in 1893. As a resident of Silicon Valley in California, we have many Vietnamese restaurants and businesses where we patronize. I'm looking forward to our visit to Vietnam - to Hanoi, Halong, and Saigon.
