More fun with repurposing: earrings at top were 50 cents at a garage sale, sterling silver but heavy and too too 80's -- took the bottom part off and put it on some hoops I had (also 50 cents, but new.)

Might change out the dangly bits yet, maybe use some peridot that I have.

Hi Soz! BEAUTIFUL earrings! So much better than the originals.

I had a pair a lot like this, with the same onyx top and lots of dangles on the bottom. Also too heavy, so I made a pendant out of one of them. Worked just fine.

I hate heavy earrings & just won't wear them any more... this pair is so much more delicate now that you've fixed 'em!

Thanks, guys! I'm definitely having fun with this jewelry thing. Next project is a jade necklace for my mom -- will post when it's done.

Finished my mom's necklace -- jasper, jade, bloodstone, and sterling silver.

Matching bracelet:

As always, it scanned dark.

Starting point was the large bead in the pendant, it's from a necklace I wore all the time in high school and my mom was always trying to steal. :-D The dangle is some kind of crystal or quartz, the remaining earring from a pair. I'm also returning a bloodstone ring that she let me borrow for a while, so it's a complete set.

Latest earrings (never scanned the other stuff I don't think, hmm), they're not too creative but I just wanted some basic dangly earrings that were green and everything I looked at in stores was way too expensive -- used peridot I had, bought the main silver elements for I think $2, had the wires.

Thanks!

My scanner is blechy, the actual color is better I think (more true, less muddy). They dangle nicely and are light, which is what I was going for (I love dangly earrings but I hate the ones that are so heavy they make the piercing look like this | instead of this . !)

As usual, color sucks but gives an idea.

End-of-preschool presents to sozlet's teachers, who have been so wonderful. (All pairs of course but only scanned one each.) They all like little dangly earrings, the apples are a bit bigger than I'd hoped to find but were the smallest I could come up with after an extensive internet search (my favorite bead stores didn't have any apples). They're sterling silver and very pretty, though.

The different stones are lapis, aquamarine and freshwater pearl.

The apples are completely 3-D by the way -- they look kinda flat in the scan.

I dunno if this is craft, exactly, but is another thing I do a lot of; making cards, often with sozlet's participation. For this one, I drew the outlines of apple and leaf and then she painted them -- we both did the background, then I cut out the shapes and she pasted them. (Made three, the earrings will be stuck through holes in the back, for the teachers' gift. She also made personalized drawings for 'em, all her.)

Wow, soz! Those are very cool. What a great idea for a gift. I'll bet they totally love those ear-rings.

The cards are a neat way to give the gift too.

Thanks! Hope they like 'em. We had fun (and it was cheap, too!) (The cards are smaller than they appear [on my monitor, anyway] -- about 4" by 5".)

Here's the latest, for my mom:

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d130/sozobe/mombraceletturquoiselightened.jpg

The red glass beads are ones she bought for me at a reservation where she was doing some field work; I bought the American turquoise beads, sterling silver beads, ss crimps, and ss clasp (and planned and assembled the whole thing). I'd planned to integrate some bone beads she got for me (long and thin) but it got too complicated.

Thanks!

I love jewelry-making but can only seem to get motivated to make anything for gifts. If there is a potential gift-recipient who likes the kind of jewelry I make (or if I know the recipient's taste enough to make something in that taste), it works out really well. Fun for me, and cheap (the materials for the bracelet were something like $5 total), and when it works, very happy recipient! (My mom is very pleased with it. Yay!)

Just picked up my dad's present (from a "paint your own pottery" place), his two cats:

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d130/sozobe/martaplate.jpg

I scanned it directly and as always, the scanner colors are off a bit -- too blue/green/gray. On the plate, Milo is a much warmer orange/ brown color.

I did this in a huge hurry so while there are plenty of rough edges I'm happy with how it turned out, overall.
