Looks like Lewis has memorized his lines perfectly. I wonder if he will consider a career in acting after his military career comes to a close.
It's gotten pretty obvious recently who's dealing in reality and who's dealing in BS. Take Dan Rather for instance.....

When a soldier has something postive to say he is reading lines, but when he has bad things to say he is held up as a truth sayer.

While I understand that sgt. Lewis is optimistic, and I like that optimisim, there's no reason to believe that he knows what the hell is going on with the insurgency or any special intel.
He has a right to his opinion; we have a right to believe that a Sgt. perhaps doesn't know what is going on in all of Ira; and the world keeps turning.
