There is a cliche in Czech, something like the book is about "current" people.
But Google didn't find one single example of "the book is about current people" , so I wonder what the problem is.
By "current" I mean people living now, in 2005.
"Modern people" sounds too vague, "contemporary" sounds like it could refer to any period of human history, so maybe "people of the present"?
The book is about present day people.
