make cheesy weenies...swear to god they are the best.

Buy Lil Smokies with Cheese. Buy crescent rolls. Wrap each weenie in 1 half of a crescent roll (or is it a 1/4?) Hm. You'd have to experiment. I can't remember. Anyway.... Put them on a baking sheet and cook until crescent rolls are golden brown.

YUMMY!

^^^^^^^^^

Pigs in a Blanket and/or kolaches are ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. I totally agree.

If you're not looking to "make" anything, everything in the frozen food section works!! hehe

chicken wings and/or chili
potato skins
chips and salsa

finger foods!! Oh my gosh I want a wrapped up weenie now!!

ohhhhhhh, you know what else is a favorite at super bowl? (staying on the same subject of weenies)

those little weenies you can put on a toothpick. with a cool bbq sauce or something. very easy to make (put in oven, done) and they go fast!

Here's the list so far...

appetizers:
hot artichoke dip and crackers (homemade, not the crackers)
chicken wings - terriaki and buffalo (Trader Joe's frozen)
cheesy weiners (thanks Kristie)
beer battered shrimp (thanks Joe)
veggie tray with ranch dip (let the kids do it)
hummus and pita wedges (store bought)

Dinner:
chili (homemade)
black bean and corn salsa with chips (homemade)
mixed green salad (from a bag if I get lazy)

Besides the beverages and requisite Cheese Curls for my daughters can anyone add anything?

It would be more fun if it was like the 49ers vs. the Lions or something.

I watched Superbowl XXIII on ESPN Classic today. Still a riot watching Joe Montana absolutely shred the Broncos in that 55-10 blowout.

Good ideas so far. Just keep in mind that you might be burning some bellies with the wings, chili and BBQ weenies.

Artichoke dip (Gawd, that sounds so good now!), veggies and ccips will balance that some...

How about some chicken salad sandwich triangles if you have a deli that makes really good chicken salad.

We don't do a Superbowl party - not much on football round here. But if I did...

I'd go to Boston Market and pick up a tray.

Then I'd stop at Chick-Filet and pick up a couple of trays.

Then I'd stop at the grocery for chips, soda and dip. Voila! Superbowl party and my kitchen is still clean so I could watch the game, too!

Now who's hungry??? Laughing

Laughing that's why I want the food to be good. I'm not sure anyone here is going to give a damn about the game.

The cheese spread and crackers is a good add. We'll have to fight my youngest daughter for it though.

Squinney, here's the artichoke dip recipe. Very easy and good.

1 large can artichokes, chopped into small pieces
8 oz shredded mozerella
1/2 cup parmasean or romano cheese
1 - 2 cloves pressed garlic
1 cup mayo

mix everything together and spread it in a microwavable pie plate or dish. sprinkle extra mozerella or parmasean on top, if desired. Zap on high until center is hot and bubbling. Serve with crackers or cocktail rye.

kickycan, it sounds like you're a bit upset that "your" team isn't playing! There's something to be said about the Patriots .....they've got a couple of super bowl rings to prove their winning wasn't a fluke! But, remember, it's only a game, and a really good reason to make some really GOOD food!
