Since we last chatted, the poorpuppy has picked up Italy (which I was surprised I didn't already have), The Philippines, Trinidad and Bahrain. Couple of others. I'm up to 32, I think. And the player in Bahrain is originally from Lebanon and was going to email a cousin to have him challenge me.
I still lose regularly but it sure is fun!
As some of yall know, when johnboy was a lad he spent a goodly number of years hitching around the world. Can't do that anymore so this is the next best thing.

I have many "friends" on A2K; folks I have never met and probably never will. I have lots of "buddies" on the scrabble thread; folks I have never met and probably never will.
A number of them are from the UK. We hooked up a night or two ago. We started games and then we would adjourn or abort them, and then we would talk. A rather bizarre way to connect with them to find out whether they were okay after the tragedy in London. And we talked. Or maybe, they talked, and johnboy listened.

I played maybe a week ago, my first time in a very long time. Realized that the 12-minute games I was doing before I trailed off were probably too fast, changed to 15-minute. Still nearly had an aneurism. Was choppy and couldn't get it together. Won, barely (some totally obvious 7-letter word -- viscera or something), but it wasn't fun, it was torture. Haven't played again since, probably will sometime.
oh yeah, viscera is totally obvious!
I mean it was like VESCIRA or something when it showed up in my hand, didn't take much to find it...
All I really remember is it had an "s" towards the middle and so it was easy to put down.
Anyway, heart was going way too fast.
