Adze can be spelled with or without an "e".
The reason I know that is I have a rather large collection of adzes. Some of them have "adze" stamped on the handle or the blade, while others, perhaps because of a cost-saving decision by the manufacturer, simply have "adz" imprinted.
And, on a sidenote, littlek was quite fortunate I was unable to log into the scrabble site last night. I would have kicked her ass.
