okay, soz, i won't belabor the point. I reckon we all play this game for our own reasons and within our own time constraints. So be it.
BTW, I just lost to a lady (I think my opponent was a female) from New Zealand. We managed to get the game in with each of us having 20 minutes but we spent a lot, a lot, of time chatting about the Schiavo issue. with a bizarre twist at the end.
the 12 - 16 minutes/per player games are perfect for in-between loads of laundry
Two days ago I lost twice to a guy who was enamored of the word "nth".
Now what the hell does "nth" mean?
To the nth degree.
Man, haven't thought of that. Good one.
Are there any other all-consonant ones like that? Littlek's "mm" has really come in handy.
<squints -- something about that last sentence seems a little dangerous...>
What a bunch of crap that is. These are the words that take all the fun out of the game, in my opinion. When someone puts a word like "nth" I want to strangle them.
I agree with you about the secret words that mean i never win. But nth is in common usage.
Well, kicky, "nth" is quite used in math. I just didn't expect it pn scrabble.
But then, there are several words I have no idea of their meaning. Somebody puts them, I challenge, lose and learn a new word (and find a new weapon, from "ziti" to "dui").
Two consonants?
"Sh", for sure.
Dunno about "Hm" or "Hmm".
"OK" does not count, and I think it's unfair, specially if they accept "li", "en", "el", "es", "de", "ti", "ta", which sound like Italian or Spanish to me.
'cause it's an abbreviation, I think.
Doesn't "ziti" rock? I knew it was a word but for some reason for a lot of words it takes seeing it played for the lightbulb to go on.
With void games I know that everything there is allowable, great learning tool.
dui? Really? That's new.
So realjohboy (aka poorpuppy in the scrabble thread) will be playing a game, gradually falling farther (or is is further) behind...but enjoying chatting with my opponent.
Then, out of nowhere appears a message from Gustav! A one liner in the typical Gustav style. How does he do that?
Eat your heart out Gus. The lady I was playing with (oops, the person I was playing against); the one with the rather, um, provocative name, was an "entertainer/singer" in London who (3 am) had just gotten home. She replied to my question by saying she didn't perform in clubs but rather "private functions."
Aint chatting more fun than the game?
Her style of muic, btw, was 60's-80's
have you looked at these, soz?

i can't be bothered to, but they're there for the keen of scrabble

did this ever come through?
Oh and just saw your link, cool, thanks.
The two-letter word one is most useful -- beyond that it gets a little overwhelming.
and I learned last week that those games where they add a minute for every turn are waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy tedious
not matching on one of those again
