<grin> drunk scrabble is hard. Beth and I were both drinking.
I think we should allow a2k user names into our common dictionary.
mmm yeah
drunk scrabble
at least i didn't drop any letters this time
<hard to believe i can drop the tiles in an online game - i am such a klutz>
The next step folks...is duplicate scrabble. Takes all the luck out because everyone gets the same tiles and board.
ooh, duplicate sounds cool.
How does that work, though? Two z's, two q's?
I tried to play again last night. Apparently my iBook needs a memory upgrade because wordbiz seems to run it into the ground. Still couldn't figure out how to play the computer. I tried the help C command and it said it didn't understand. Oh well, I'll just have to play with a human. Will anyone be around tonight to play a practice game with me?
Who C, not help C (and you have to capitalize.)
I'm happy to practice with you if I'm around.
It's definitely not that mac friendly. Kicky and I commented on that too.
Doh. I will try that. Why did I think it was help? That's what I get for trying to play at 7:00 in the morning.
Yeah, I thought it was a Mac thing. It's a java app which means it's already a memory hog, but if I have it up at the same time as Firefox my computer becomes unusable. But I was planning on a memory upgrade anyway.
I will try again tonight and see who is around.
I might just have to stop in the scrabble site tonight and hunt down freeduck.
It's gonna be a war.
You're on, Gus! Is it cheating to have a dictionary.com window open while you play?
It's easier I've found to open the seek graph and look for a little square which symbolizes the computer. Click on that and you get a game. This way you can choose from different strength computers and the total time options.
One thing I've meant to check and haven't yet, maybe someone here knows -- I've noticed that when I type a word I've put down in the chat, it's hotlinked (green and underlined.) What does that signify, if anything? That it's in the dictionary? If so, can you type a word you're thinking of putting down to see if it goes green?
(Their dictionary has not accepted a couple of words that other dictionaries accept.)
Soz. Duplicate is cool because all the A2Kers can play at once, against each other. Everybody has the same board position and same letters...you make the best play possible and you get a score from comparing your word score to the others...
Ooooh. That sounds really fun! So only the best play stays?
What if you put down the same word as someone else? Is it a draw?
neat idea soz...gonna test your theory.
Is duplicate an actual function at ISC?
Yes, I'm reading up on it for us
