Littlek, I'm so sorry you are facing this. If mourning alone is your preference then, by all means, plan some time to be alone. Being on the Cape with your mom nearby is a good idea for those times when being alone becomes too much.

Yes, the Cape definitely sounds like the best place. Most definitely.

You'll be in my thoughts, my friend.

I read up on the last few pages this morning, before I headed to face 120 students, and just didn't know what to say. I wish I could be home to well, I don't know. I could hardly think about anything else today. I wish I could help or do something. And say goodbye, but Ican't even write about that now, I'm surrounded by students. But my thoughts are at home.

Dasha, I've been worried about that. We were both so busy before you left that it didn't come up. I kind of new then that she wouldn't make it until you came back. I should have suggested you say goodbye. You have been an amazing friend and playmate to Boo. It makes me very sad that you won't be here....... I'm sorry you have to hear about it while you're so busy and far away.

I would be sad at every return to the vet for months.

Not just months, Lil K. Using another vet was my choice, too, for the same reason. She operated her own cremation services, too, which I now know eliminated what would have been the equally traumatic experience of transporting my dog afterward. Even if the Cape Cod vet doesn't have his own crematory, I'm sure he has an agreement with one who will transport and return the ashes.

I hadn't been to a Boston area vet with my animals yet, when my cat's sister got sick. My cousin suggested a place and I went, but the cat eventually died - I switched vets immediately after. I like my current vet, even though I bitch about them a lot. The bitch is about medicine costs and ttraffic and not about the people who work there. I want to keep them.

My mother got back to me about the cape cod vet. They said it would be ok, but wanted to check and see what records were there and if she qualified. It would be waaaaay cheaper than the mobile vet.

It's weird how I fluctuate throughout the day. I am always more able to think clearly and speak about this in the morning. By evening I am a mess.

Thanks Whooda.

My vet called, while it isn't practice to have a vet at the clinic make housecalls, she'd do it for me and Boo (she knows my cousins). I still think the cape sounds better. She'll call them if needed.

Bootsie had a bath today - I think who ever said dogs like to be clean is right, she seems much more at ease today. She's dreaming about wrestling, so far as I can tell, as I type.

I asked my family to take pictures of me and Boo nearly 2 years ago at christmas time, no one did. I asked my 6 year old neice to do so on friday. She's pretty good. And, more importantly, she's prolific. She took around 65 photos, most were keepers, few were put-on-the-wall shots - all the same I am impressed.

Oh, Osso, don't cry!

It's sort of funny - if you look I am sticking my tongue out at her so she will actually look at me for the shot. Funny! Really! <sigh>

Thanks Tai..... Today is a good day for both of us. Boots seems to have had a little upswing. Nothing anyone but me (and maybe Dasha) would notice. She's more alert and communicative. My guess is that's because of the cooler weather and the extra treats she's been getting. Puppy chow, canned food, people food........ even a little beer here and there.

Thank you.

I am feeling badly that you all may be having your heartstrings pulled for too long. I appreciate you staying for the duration.

Oh littlek don't worry about us, at all. I appreciate being kept up to date, and don't want you to feel pressured to do so. Which is kind of the opposite. (More info = better, as depressing as it may be.)
