i'm still working on this whole emigrant thing....and once again i'm at a loss for information.....
i've been working on this story about someone who has come from germany in 1738 to philadelphia.....and did not show up in the census records again until 1761...according to ship records he was 23 at the time he arrived in philadelphia....i'm trying to figure out where he could have been for those 23 yrs where there is no mention of him.
i realize he could have been an indentured servant....but for 23yrs.....that was only a seven yr contract or 14yr in some cases right?
i welcome any resources you might have....i have no problem researching....as long as i know where and how to research it.
thanks a bunch for your info....and thank you to those who have helped me prior to this new thread....all your information has been helpful!!
C
Johann Georg Weichel, 20
Jacob Kuntz, 23
Johann Jacob Kollb, 23
Jacob Offenbacher, 24 (bayern pfalz)
and so on..
Arrival: Philadelphia, 30 Aug 1737
Could this be useful?
Francis....thank you for your info....the name of the person i'm trying to find info on is bosler......i guess my clearer question is....what could he have been doing during the time i have no account for him...i realize this could be just about anything....but right now i can't even imagine what he could have been doing for 23yrs.....i'm trying to find anyone with any ideas of what he could be doing....what did a lot of emigrants do once they arrived in philadelphia.....of know indenture servent is one....but what else? education? apprentis(sp)....or what?
any ideas out there?
was he related to the Bosler's in this site? :

Francis,
as far as i know there is no relation to the bosler i am researching to the joseph bosler you refer to in the site you shared.
Bosler of Philadelphia
I'm researching Bosler surname of Philadelphia. Earliest I have is George W. (no kidding) Bosler, born ca 1817. Would you send me the given names of your Boslers?
