That's my neighborhood, George..........that area is a slum.....

Have you seen this thread, bree or flyboy? We have a good time when we meet. Hope you'll join us next time.

And here's the funniest pic of all. It's of the group with Frank making a rare admission. Very funny. The person with Dag is her friend Misha. They're both from Slovakia.

Quote:George, I can answer you quite well, since I live only a few blocks north on York.
Sounds like we're neighbors, flyboy.

I was thinking that when I read it. And Kicky too.
Frank- I've been retired from the Air Force for 35 years which makes me something of an old fogie. When you combine this with my somewhat asocial nature you have an explanation of why I have not been to the N.Y. gatherings. I have enjoyed reading about the gatherings as well as your dining at Au Tunnel, my favorite pre theater restaurant. My fondness for the place goes back to the day when Papa Pujol ran it after he gave up duMidi.
This sounds a lot like the Longwood area of Boston.
I'm hoping to get down that way to scope the place
out if things work out for the Daughter.
Thanks, all, for the info.
whoa - 3 more pages to catch up on
thanks!
(and Lola thanks for posting the links to the pix - I forwarded them to a work colleague who's posted here a couple times - trying to convince him to come along on a trip to NYC)

You really gotta join us for a beer on the Frying Pan pier when spring comes around. I'm gonna PM you then.

If those photos don't convince your colleague to hurry down to meet us, I don't know what will..
flyboy804 wrote:ehBeth- NYC Ballet starts an 8 week season at Lincoln Center the last week in April. American Ballet Theater won't start until the end of May. Australian Dance Theater will be at the Joyce Apr 26-May1. The Joyce also has "Complexions" (a company about which I know nothing) May3-8, and "Momix" May 10-29. Momix is a most unusual company. They are similar to the better known Pilobolus and in my opinion equally good. The artistic director, Moses Pendleton, was one of the founders of Pilobolus.
Love Momix. Have seen them here a few times. ABT, good, seen 'em. NYC Ballet I'll always remember for the ballerina whose strap broke in mid-performance.
Will look into Australian Dance Theatre.
Thanks, flyboy!
Frank-Possible that our paths crossed in U.K. as I was in MATS/MAC most of the time and in the '50s was hauling support equipment and missiles in and out of Brize- Norton, Upper Heyford, Greenham Common, Mildenhall, etc. I was oh so close to what for me would have been a dream assignment- flight planner at South Ruislip (last stop on the London Subway system).
Almost ready to book my flight. Gotta decide whether to fly in on Wednesday or Thursday.
Mulling mulling mulling.
Wed, Wed... more time is better.... better... better....
