The idea of $1 - $4 samplings from some of those places ... wow!

There's just too too much going on. I'd almost forgotten that I want to try and see Camryn Mannheim in Romeo and Juliet in Central Park.

I regret I have to leave on Monday.

All street fairs are fun. Does anyone have preferences?

For some reason I'm feeling a little psychically pummelled and not up to Deep, Informed Research.

Fortunately I have complete faith and trust in Eh-Beth's genius for constructing wonderful weekends.

This one is really something to see (that is eat through), competitors from all over come to share their chopped, chipped, marinated, unsaturated (hah), pulled, poked, smoked oozie-goozie BBQ treats.
(Of course, Blue Smoke is around the corner Jazz with Meats.

Most, not all, street fairs have become the same. Vendors with sausage sandwichs next to the same guy you saw selling underwear three weeks ago ten blocks away selling underwear. (sigh) Street fairs used to feature the local businesses, now they are most the same bunch of roving vendors.

Why has no one mentioned the Puerto Rican Day Parade. The loudest bands and a hundred thousand coochi coochi girls shaking it.

It's on Sunday. Fifth Ave by the Park.

Haven't some marchers/spectators of the Puerto Rican Day Parade turned very rowdy? Dangerously rowdy in a few cases?

aBout as rowdy as the Irish, but the boyos have to contend with the cold of March 17th.

The Puerto Ricans, 98 percent of whom are just partying, have done some bad things.

Current weather forecast for NYC 6/8-6/11 is highs of 79 to 80 and 10-30% chance of rain. Sounds perfect.

I have no great preferences for one of those street festivals over another. Not so sure about the parade, for more than a quick view anyway.

I think I'm glad that the Taste of Times Square doesn't start til I'm on my way out of town!

If everyone's at the parade, that should leave the park and carriages to the Atookaians

Joe is right about the street fairs. Seen one, you've seen 'em all. So if you want to go to one, I'd advise that you not spend your precious vacation time on more than one.

The Puerto Rican Day parade has hurtled into the number one position as my least favorite parade. (I live near where almost all the parades end.) The St. Patrick's Day parade held the title for many years, and still holds a place of honor as one of my least favorites.

The parade marches up Fifth Avenue. I don't know where it begins, but I do know where it ends. It turns east on 86th Street and ends at Third Avenue. I don't know whether you want to see the parade or not. Doesn't matter. I'm telling you this because the parade may affect your ability to get around. Fifth Avenue will be closed to all traffic. The transverses through the park will be backed up. Even on a Sunday. Don't ask what this is like when parades happen on weekdays. (There's an old joke in Noo Yawk: Tourist: What's the best way to get across town? Native: Be born there.)

I recall that you're planning something in Central Park for Sunday, Beth. My suggestion: Finish whatever it is you're planning before the parade begins or stay on the West Side.

It's not likely that north-south traffic will be affected. Also not likely that the West Side will be affected. All this is FYI.

Aside: I hate parade season. You'll be long gone. I still have the Steuben Day parade, the Polaski Day parade, the Israeli Independence Day parade, etc. to look forward to. (Ear plugs.)

Now this:Museum Mile Festival would be worth a couple of hours.

It's on Tuesday and close enough to Roberta's that you can use her bathroom.
