Setanta had a bit of trouble being heard in the mmmm energy.

I fear for Walter.

In Kingston with the hamburgers for the weekend.

(enjoying Adamson  )

mrs. hamburger asked "will Walter be all right with the three of you?"
I told her Walter was very experienced in the management of elderly women.

Nudge wants to be sure some of you are meeting Roberta before the schedule solidifies. (I know, I know, none of my business.) Do I have to come over there?

The movers came yesterday emptied out our apartment and shop. As I type this on the laptop, each keystroke echoes like little muffled thunders. Our tonkanese cat Tarzana is not pleased with the turn of events. On the plus side, as we have no curtains now, I can freely expose myself to the neighbors with cause.

Living here in Manhattan has been an outstanding adventure. And running a little jewelry store on the upper east side has been, for me, the best of it. Over the last couple of weeks, local folks have been stopping in to say goodbye. Lots of hugs and even some tears. Most touchingly, the expression from more than a few that jane and I had made our neighborhood a better and friendlier place. I hope that doesn't sound braggy...I just wanted to share it with you all. This is a wonderful city and I truly love these people here.

A few more days to patch holes in walls and tie ends together then key in ignition and a six day slow cruise across the continent.

blatham- Wow! I have not been checking out this thread for awhile, and just now I find out that the two of you are leaving Manhattan.

All I can say is the best of luck for the two of you in Portland. I am sure that wherever you go, it will be a successful move.

Well that's very nice to know, Bernie.

Of course you will be sorely missed. I'm glad the neighbours (not being British and too uptight) are able to freely express their emotions. I personally am privileged to have been able to visit you there. You are good people.

Bon voyage.
