Well there was a slight problem with the mobile phone coverage but I have now spoken to FionaB with the local smoke signals.
I was shoehorned onto the flight at the last desk (to be fair, the check-in guy said I would get on, but he could not allocate a seat to me yet, which was a bit worrying but it happened to work) and I luckily got an aisle seat which was what I wanted, for leg-stretching.
Except coming in over Canada I did not have the benefit of the window to better enjoy the views which were spectacular, of mountains with a dusting of snow on the peaks.
Progress so far: Newark Liberty Airport is the best one I have ever visited, and the notorious security checks (for doubtful-looking foreigners) took about one minute, could not have been simpler or better.
Everyone was very helpful, friendly and efficient.
I would advise anyone who is not used to driving on the right, in an unfamiliar car, with an unfamiliar automatic transmission, not to have their first attempt in the middle of New Jersey traffic. Need I say more?
However once the initial panic had subsided I had a lovely drive over, through some spectacular wooded scenery. So far, all well.
Dry and sunny yesterday, but raining so far this morning.
Glad to see that MickeyT has landed.
Joisey. It's another world.
Some were a bit concerned by now, I imagine
yep, glad to hear you arrived safely, McT. Have a great visit (although you might get blown about a bit today and tomorrow).
The weather in northeastern PA today is not picture postcard material.

You're right there, flower.
But the trees still look nice.
Not great natural light for photography, though.
Howdy Doody McTag
Just to let you know that because I do not meet the A2K requirements to send PMs, that is because I do not have the necessary longstanding membership of the community, I can't reply through A2K to your private communication. You will have to give me another email address so that I can reply. Looking forward to more news.

Well I haven't got another e-mail address, pet.
Write to Clarence and ask him to print it out for me. (If it's not too rude or embarrassing)

I opened another Hotmail account, q.v.
Greetings from pencil vanier.
I might sound stupid - but why don't you use your normal ntl-address?

1. This computer is a bit empfindlich
2. I was unaware I could do that from here
3. I don't know my ntl password.
4. I AM stupid
You could simply stay in touch via A2K ~~ we promise not to listen
You are not stupid McTag - I am sure you did know you have just forgotten!
I know that one can use one's home email any where but one has to have all the codes and passwords etc and I never thought to suggest it. I did not think we would be keeping in touch by email nor by A2K. The hotmail address works just fine and Clarence is keeping me posted so I know more about you now than I normally do. There is no escape.
JPB - I don't think you would find any of our exchanges interesting or worth listening in to! It would be too embarrassing to communicate via A2K because it would be sooooo boring.
Sunshine today, but wind gusting to 40 mph.

Yes it was blowy for sure, but nice and clear and sunny eventually. I had a nice drive to the west, by the Susquehanna River, and we ended up this evening (quite early) at Smokey Bones for clam chowder, cornbread and a rack of ribs, with cinnamon apples and baked potato on the side.
Marvellous.
Today, home-made ham & bean soup, corned beef sandwich with mustard and pickle, and a slice of pumpkin pie at the Bluebird Diner at Factoryville, PA. And coffee.
Marvellous again. That was lunch, but that's enough food for one day.
[in keeping with the title, I had a bagel at breakfast yesterday.]
Saw the Lackawanna Rail Road Viaduct at Nicholson. Big. Quite nostalgic really, just like Stockport with sunshine.
You coming up near Boston at all, McT?
