The election will go forward regardless.

GW will hopefully use that as a signal to declare victory and get our troops out of there.

Hopefully from the point of view of someone who doesn't give a damn what happens to the peaceloving Iraqis who want democracy after we flee.

....um, he already did that in May 2003.
Maybe next time he declares victory, it'll be more than just a photo-op.

At any rate, I hope the troops come back soon, and in vast numbers.

As always, you mis-represent the facts as the only declaration made then was recognition that the regime had been removed.

But, do not let the facts get in the way of your whining.
