Is he making any moves toward packing? Can you start tossing his stuff in the yard at midnight the night before?
dagmaraka wrote:Well, it's hard to communicate with him, period. And it is useless. It's a communication for nothing. I have no idea why he asks what to do when he has zero intention to do anything. August 12 will be one of the happiest days of my life within the past few years, seriously.
It just amounts to more stress and wasted energy for you. The main thing is that he understands that he has to leave.
Him trying to stay past his deadline will be consistent with his behavior.
Has he got a new place to go? Thinking, you're probably going to want to vaporize the room before the new roommate puts her thnigs in there..
<starts gnawing fingernails, agreeing with Amigo>
Luckily his moving is definite. He's starting a new job in Denmark,so he has a plane to catch on the 12th. Plus, the new housemate will move in around the 15th, so he really cannot stay. Thankgod. His lease is out, too, and the landlord would not let him stay without our approval, I'm sure.
I don't think he can stay past his move out date - he has plan tickets. His 'shipment' is due to be picked up from our house on the 10th (a week from friday!). He'll be gone the following sunday! I just cleaned the bathroom, which was rank. I wonder if he'll get to it while he's packing to leave.... probably not as two weeks will actually be monday and he'll already be gone. But, I don't care! I think I will hose the bath down when he leaves. And, yes, we'll have to vaporize the room.
He still hasn't started packing.
Or throwing anything away.
(argh! I couldn't even get through a single post before he came home)
I couldn't stand the friggin fruit flies/ When you walk through the kitchen, they end up in your mouth and eyes and nose. They're all over the sponges, fruit (which he still hadn't put in the fridge) and trash.
I took out the trash, put the fruit in the fridge, ran the sponges, sponge holders, water pitcher, fruit stand and bowl through the dishwasher. I got online and found a vinegar f.f. trap and made three of them. One is where the fruit used to live, one is where the sponges were (they now live in the microwave), and one is down with the trash barrel. The traps work. We probably have less than half the previous number of free fruit flies roaming our kitchen.
Dasha, I took movies out from the library: Beetle Juice, GBY Goes Down (no idea) and I Have Found It (bollywood). Interested in watching a movie tonight?
littlek, I have an idea. You're looking for a new roommate, right? It just so happens that Kevin Garnett has been traded to the Celtics and I'm sure he will be looking for a place to stay.
Give me the details, the cost of rent, etc. and I will try to give Kevin a call later tonight.
Er, we have a new house mate, but thanks anyway!

i'll be home at around 10:45pm....but if that's not too late, sure!
mmmmmm, maybe too late. Which would you least like to see. I need a movie bad.
too late. seems you fell asleep on the couch. glad to see you're up, your neck would hurt again!
My neck is fine. But, it's really too hot to be sleeping on the couch!
GGGRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
I just cleaned the bathroom to an inch of its life (I never understood that idiom). I made sure to scrape every single one of his hairs off the walls, toilet, tub, shower curtain, sink, trashcan, floor, floorboards, etc. I spent twice as long as usual because it was nasty (I'd been gone 2 weeks). I did this monday morning. Tuesday morning, he pruned himself again. There's hair everywhere. I felt like screaming.
<breathing>
Less than two weeks. Less than two weeks. Less than two weeks.....
no way. that must be on purpose. it's like he waits until right after it was cleaned.
or else, which is sadly likelier, he is a retard.
We should get a hose and hose it down, along with him right after he's done, while he's still in the bathroom.
two weeks....two weeks. Wait!!!!!! LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!
That's one of the reasons I'm interested in the bathrooms I saw in Italy. They were mostly retrofitted for new plumbing (alberghi in old buildings), so the floor was raised a bit off of the surroundings, and a drain inset mid bathroom, or somewhat mid bathroom. Seemed practical to me....
Wonder if they do that in new bathrooms too.
Osso, I like the IDEA of those bathrooms, a lot! All they all tile/stone? I wonder about cleaning the grout and I wonder about the up keep of sealant.
Also, to revisit the fruit fly problem...... My home made vinegar traps are working very well. But, they will never rid up of the flies because even though he has kept his fruit in the fridge where I put it, he throws the rinds/peels.pits/etc in the trash. The trash doesn't go out but maybe 2 per week.
So, there is a mess of flies in the trash totally ignoring the vinegar bait next to the trash can. This after I told him not to put his watermelon rind in the trash. When he asked what he should do with it, I told him to put it out in the outside trash barrels. "Or in a plastic bag," he said. Sigh. So, he put his rinds in plastic bags two days in a row and his friggin banana peels in the trash unbagged. Hello? Why are banana peels different than watermelon rinds? And, what a watse of plastic!
I'll see if I can find any photos. Mad camera woman that I am, I know I failed to photo a bathroom, even though I kept being intrigued. They were all tile, as I remember, raised about three inches off of regular finished floor with some kind of marble step at the bathroom entry, all to make room for the drain and drain pipe, I guess. Since these were always at hotels (in our experience), there was always cleaning staff. I'm sure one could use the idea with stone too.
While I thought this all was a function of having to retrofit old buildings for new stuff, I could easily see adapting the one room, one drain aspect. (They still had shower curtains, at least sometimes.)
I gave up on finding a photo. I'll leave you with probably my favorite all time "hotel", which looks unprepossessing in photos, especially as there are many fabulous places in Italy. But... we stayed there day after day for about a week because of the view from our windows, the wonderful food the family cooked, the way the owner had an aperitif at the ready as we came back from a day touring Tuscany, the basic comfortableness. I did many paintings from photos I took on walks around Casalta..
So, this is one of the places that had a bathroom like that...
