So, after a prod to R.H., she turned us down. She said she was stressed and couldn't make up her mind this quickly (28 hours, or so). Now, D is off-line and I dunno whether I should appease her or let her go and respond to our #2 pick.

Go with number 2. That way, you can blame me if it doesn't work out.

Tell RH when she is ready she is welcome to contact you. If the room is still available she will be welcome.

Offer to #2 pick immediately with the same message

wait 24 hours and offer to #3.

My gut reaction would be to go with #2 then. If RH is too indecisive and stressed about having to decide that quickly, then she probably a) has some doubts and b) might be a little high strung, with tendency to get worked up or nervous.... what do you think?
In any case, if she wrote an email, i didn't see it, plus i didn't get a chance to talk with her much, since i was being clung to by one interviewee...so i don't have a good sense of her. #2, on the other hand, perhaps didn't spend time in africa and doesn't do claymation, but seemed perfectly relaxed and sensible.. dunno. Lemme know when RH writes back or something. I'm always more or less online, even when asleep.

I'll move in with you both AND DESTROY YOU !!!!

Oh sweet jaysus, could you imagine that?

Now, despite who they get, they will be able to cope because they will always have the thought that I, devil-worship Heeven, could have taken over ..... snigger!

Oh and I hate feet. I will beat you senseless if I see even a tootsie outside of you bedcovers. You MUST wear socks, even in the shower.

I have a confession everyone.

I'm the one moving into Dag & Littlek's place. Strangely, they're discounting my rent if I DO make dinner in only my underwear.

Thinking about cooking in your underwear...

Then thinking that tighty-whities (new ones) would make a good hop bag for the next home brew...

By the way, you, k&d, you should check out Jolie Holland. Singer. Sounds great. Played here in an 18-inch blizzard. You might like it.

Hmm indeed.

I would love to see Slappy meet HM#3 though before he goes buh-bye.

Our next HM#3 is #2 Confused It should make sense. Does it?

I am jetlagged, drove four hours - to meet with nimh in Komarno, a quaint little town of Southern Slovakia, which also happens to be my dissertation research locality. Poor nimh had to hear about every statue we saw. We had lunch and strolled about. And talked about every last one of you. And took many pictures but I won't post any because I'm not sure if I'd agree with haing my pic posted online, so I don't want to upset myself.
lk - nobody saw my tattoo yet. It's been easy to avoid, it being work days so far, but weekend is coming and my mother will chase me out into the backyard to get some sun. I'm praying for rain. There was a program on TV about a girl with many piercings and tattoos, so I got to hear my parents' commentary. Not very flattering ("Look at you, what a clown... must have miniscule self-confidence, being painted over like that... and so on and so forth). Not encouraging. Not one bit.

You're different than they are.

Families don't always appreciate that. Probably think you're getting too big for your britches.

Or up yourself, as some would have it.

umm, it was raining in Komarno mostly. Plus I had an elbow length shirt. I can fake work effort but that's usually not an excuse. I can read in the backyard.

They will live. My dad will shake his head and my mom will be somewhat unhappy, but ultimately there are more important things in the world. Then again, nothing will happen if they don't know. Just as well if they don't.

Oy.

One of the odd components of my life is that by the time I arrived at being my rad self, the parent who most would have gone wild with hurt, etc., was moving into alzheimer's. My mother and I had enough of that going as it was. (She told the parish monsignor I had borrowed money for an abortion. As it happens, I borrowed money to make the rent. I stopped with the borrowing forever. Her fears were paramount, in a beginning alzheimer's scenario.)

My father, who had a much broader viewpoint on the world in general, died a decade before that. So, the force of events saved me from such a confrontation as sunbathing with mom with a significant tattoo unveiled.

I hate fibbing, have worked to stop doing that (not to put that on you..), but don't love confrontational scenes, much less awful fallout from them. Won't you be busy that day? (I don't mind the escape response....)

Osso! You have a tattoo?

The major lie I spun to my parents was that I was a smoker. For 12-15 years I lied. Some day I'll come clean (I've been off ciggies for more than a decade).
