There was a series of 'Carry on' movies of, I assume, a ribald sort, back in the, erm, early sixties (??), of which I managed not to see any.

Pdawg! Have you been seen about this at all yet? I mean when it happened before? Scary!

dlowan, my parents have already helped.

It's the dry, dry cold that causes the bits of blood. And I've been out in the dry, dry cold quite a bit of late (bad bus service, no free parking).

Pdawg, I went to the cemetery today and saw a chilling message that seemed to be directed to you. This poor man died of a disease so terrible that they named it on his tombstone as a warning to those who may be suffering the same plight. Please get thee to a doctor before Frost Cough takes you too!

That's a warning, all right!

I'm thinking pre Laugh-In, but I'm not sure how pre. There were at least slight snickers around the hospitals I worked in, but I was a busy girl back then with school and work so missed it, or them, there being a series.

Brit snigger/lavatory humour ...late fifties/early sixties, methinks?

There was a series of films...and a "carry on gang".

Yep, them. I never saw them, so no useful comment, except I remember the Nurse one being talked about.

Painful it was, indeed, the debate tonight. Much raised adrenalin for all three of us. The stoopid codger was referring to me as 'she' much of the evening, which really irks me when I'm right there to talk to. Even though much of the debate was ridiculous (not even worth going in to), it is probably better to have had it out yet again. I ain't holding my breath though, it's been done before. And before that. And before that.

What I can't figure out is why he just doesn't pack up & leave!
I mean there are plenty of other houses with showers to pee in, in Boston! But no, he stubbornly chooses to stay where he's clearly not loved!
I have suggested before that he be asked to leave, but for some reason .... Confused

Well, sure, except that it's a "G," and not a "C."

Anyway, I feel better today (already, see?) and can put off my doctors visit until spinal radiographs can be followed closely by chiropractic treatment -- so I don't have to pay for X-rays twice.

There aren't really that many houses to be rented here. And maybe none at this price.

That's unfortunate, k.

Guess you're stuck with him, then.

I know what Osso is saying but I really do sympathize with littlek and dag. I've mentioned that I lived in a housing co-op for a while there, in very close quarters with about 35 people. Many of them didn't bother me in the least -- O'Bill's sister for example was a sweetheart. But there were a small group of people who drove me absolutely bananas. And the problem was, that once they started to drive me bananas, things that would otherwise be at least minimally OK were hair-tearingly irritating when these specific already-annoying people did it. It was a feedback loop. (The person was annoying, so my attention was directed towards the person [this was hard to control], so I picked up more annoying things the person was doing, so I got more annoyed, so...]

It wasn't the behavior per se so much as the nexus between behavior, history, and personality.

I can't remember, dag and littlek, have you asked him to move? Like, no muscle behind it, just, "Obviously this isn't working, would you PLEASE move?" As I type that out I seem to remember you did and he said no.

August isn't SO far away...

no we didn't. the hassle in him finding a new house, us finding a new roommate and the ugly one or two months in between would be more trouble than worth. he has so much stuff, he took months to move in. it's not a good time of the year to be looking for a roommate or housing. But we weren't even considering asking him to leave, no. and yes, august is not that far away. i pray for his good health and for good weather. may he enjoy it outdoors as much as possible.
You still coughing blood and all?
No. I thought I said, that's only at the very, very onset, and I'm certain that it's from exposure to very cold, very dry air. Two or three clotted goobers, not an ongoing thing, and not fresh blood. And that's all I have to say about this. I will soon be embarking on what may be a series of medical adventures, the sniffles being the least of it, and I need it not to start until I'm done with the present bit of work, which I cannot afford to repeat in the future.
