i subletted my room for two months, cj. was skipping around the world - slovakia, india, thailand, cambodia.... and will move back in at the end of february.

beth, i don't think #3 did find the thread, though it's possible since he stands behind lk when she's on the puter not caring much that he's disturbing.... plus, we had an epic talk or two where we talked out all the things that appeared here over time. anyhow, it's more of a holla to lk to see how things are going at home, work and otherwise since i've been gone for so long.

Things are fine. You don't think he found this thread? Hmmm....

HM#4 is great, you'd love him. Quiet as a mouse, he doesn't make anything in the kitchen besides tea. He doesn't only talk about himself and he has a sense of humor.

The cooking in the bathroom -- well, let's just say that's another cup of tea...

<cringe, cringe, sneer>

I wonder if I'd like the sound of Portuguese coming out of a different mouth. Just now it sounds like a cat hissing with peanutbutter in her mouth. LOUDLY.

I thought he'd found it, Dag seems to feel he didn't find it. I pretty much don't care anymore. But, I'll still be reporting less than 100% here.

i think it's on 'who really cares anymore' level at this point. there's nothing he hasn't heard from us directly on this thread... well, maybe the descriptions are more colorful here, plus we all know we are just maintaining basic civility and don't interact beyond that. if he cares to sit and sift through here, well why the heck not. i just don't like the guy and it's not even really his fault. only some of it. blech. i wish #4 could replace him, but that won't work. he'll be around till...gulp...mid august.

He can't exactly be feeling too terrific about the situation, either, dag.

Why is it not possible to have a civil "this isn't working out" conversation & suggest he leave earlier?

I've had to do that on the odd occasion when house sharing.

MsO, I think we're all a little too lazy for that option.

It's like meeting the girl of your dreams...then finding out she's 5.

I was talking to one of my new roommates, who likes to talk. And talk. And talk...to the point where I'm standing there holding my food, waiting to go upstairs while he talks away. He's got his first job out of school, in sales. I told him he should pick up some sales books, when he asks me if I've ever heard of Dale Carnegie...he was asking if I've read "How to win friends and influence people," which I'm in the middle of reading right now. He's apparently read it a couple times.

Ironically, one of the main lessons in the book is how you can make a positive impact on people by utilizing good listening skills and focusing on their needs.

I watched an Inspector Clouseau movie with my niece and nephew. I adore peter sellers, I love his character, I love the physical humor, I love the social awkwardness. But, as I watched I realized that HM#3 is a lot like the daft inspector. He always states the obvious, he is as I said awkward, he gets in the way, he doesn't listen, etc. Odd.

Slappy, is this a new housemate or one of the ones you've been living with for a while?

Eh... set boundaries now.

The dingbat is finally leaving the house.

10 times he slams the kitchen cupboards every time he prepares a meal
9 times we've told him to not leave the dishtowels on the counter in a ball
8 types of hair products he keeps in the bathroom
7 hairs per bathroom use he leaves behind on the toilet, sink, floor, mirror, etc
6 months until he goes for good
5 times he blows his nose while showering in the shower I also use
4 times, average, he returns after locking the door before he finally leaves the building
3 days per week he never leaves the house
2 windows he has in his room which he never opens - his smell oozes out every time he opens the door
1 sigh of relief that he's gone out
