Interesting link, Francis. I'm no expert, I've just driven on the quiet roads of Toscana, with just a bit on the autostrada.
Have been a pedestrian in a lot of ital cities though... scary at first.

fbaezer, great link to Bozzetto. I loved the Bruno Bozzetto cartoons! He is so wonderful.
When I was studying Italian, I took a course in Italian Cinema, and our prof., a filmmaker, screened a wonderful set of Bozetto shorts. Sadly, hard to find here, so it's great to screen them online!

I knew Bozzetto's cartoons, but the credit of the link goes to Francis.
Ohh!. Italy has great cartoonists. Altan, for example.
"I'm afraid of the mad cows, dad".
"Don't worry, they'll shoot them all with bullets of impoverished uranium".

Hmm. Do any of you remember a movie short called "Troppo Oregano"?
I remember it is a little classic; looked it up on google once to no avail.

I looked on imdb and found "Too much oregano", an 8 min. Canadian short about an Italian restaurant.
Is this it?
I have all my hotels/apartments booked, actually. Now I just have to make my reservations for that Uffizi joint in Florence and a couple other places for which I've been told reservations are pretty much a must.
Less than two months away!!!

Omigod, Campo dei Fiori, I love it like mad.
Great essay on it in a book by William Murray on his time living in italy.. will be back with a link.
I just remembered someone else who used to live in an apartment overlooking Campo dei Fiori, someone you would not be likely to remember, but your parents might - Irving R. Levine, a news reporter on one of the american networks for a looooong time.

No matter. His essay describes what he sees in the Campo over twenty four hours. I remember it as enjoyable, but you're going to be living your own bunches of twenty fours...
Ahem, perhaps another essay by a more recent visitor..

Oh jesus, I forgot about this thread. The trip was great, even though I immediately went into job/life crisis mode when I got back, and never even got the chance to bask in the peaceful easy feeling I got from that amazing, wonderful, fantastic and beautiful trip.
Damnm, I was going to put some pics up here, wasn't I? Well, I hope you all don't feel slighted. You shouldn't--I haven't even given my parents any pictures yet either! Soon, soon!!!

Ciao, tutti, too...
Yes, do, Kicky, I'd still like to see photos. I was reminded since I've been helping a friend pick a hotel in Rome this week (much sturm and drang...)
LoisLane, I'm happy for you. Last you mentioned going, the trip had something to do with etruscan places, or did I imagine that? You just know I want to hear lots about it when you come back.
