I'm a screenwriter, and I'd like to use the phrase "destroy the old to build the new" (or "we destroy" or "one must destroy" or "destroying"). It will be a Latin motto engraved on a building or a monument--one of those little things that most viewers won't notice, but the ones who do will appreciate it, because it fits the theme of the movie.

Thanks a lot. I've had fun skimming all these threads. The phrases people mention are so telling!
