Enough or Sufficient

Reply Thu 6 Jan, 2005 03:51 pm
1) One 37-cent stamp is ENOUGH for this envelop.
2) One 37-cent stamp is SUFFICIENT for this envelop.

Which is correct?
And how can we decide whether to use 'ENOUGH' or 'SUFFICIENT' in a sentence?

Thanks in advance.

I think they are both correct but I think you would want to add "postage" after either one.

You could also use "adequate".

Either one is correct, in this case. And it's "envelope" not "envelop". "Envelop" is a verb that means to enclose or cover something completely.

As for how to know when to use each one in a sentence, I don't have an easy answer, except that "enough" is probably used more frequently in everyday usage.
