Racism is Bad

Racism is bad. I know that seems obvious, but how else should we say it when we can state it so easily? Throughout history, racism has been a problem, America being no acceptation. People of color have been pursued, injured, and killed in this nation based on the color of their skin. This is one of the reasons our nation stays divided. Racism in America has been around since it was founded in the 1700’s. European immigrants who helped build this country created the term race to make them superior and people of color seem liken weaker and lesser beings.
Caucasian people believe that they are being racially discriminated against. In some instances that is far from the truth, but in other cases there have been discrimination towards white people. In January of 2017, a white teenager was kidnapped by four black teens. They tied him up, put duct tape on his mouth, tortured him, and broadcasted it all over Facebook. They did this saying it was because of the black lives matter movement screaming things like “**** Donald Trump”. Later leaders of the movement came forward saying the actions taken by these teens do not reflect the actions of the movement and are not supported by them as well. These teens took extreme action and committed a hate crime because they didn’t like the president.
Racism oftentimes is fueled by ignorance and being uneducated about other races and ethnicities. Oftentimes, people look upon the Black Lives Matter movement as a source of hate or as some people call it “barbaric”, within the current history of the United States, we have become very sensitive to the idea of protesting and people standing up for what they believe in. Any source of protest is seen by a group as childish and barbaric and that the issue isn’t one that needs to be brought up into conversation. The black lives matter movement is a movement to try and end racism and discrimination again African Americans within the United States. It began blowing up around the time of all the police brutality videos and threads began popping up throughout all social media sources. From Michael Brown to Freddie Grey, there is almost a countless amount of innocent citizens who were unarmed but yet killed due to the police brutality within our nation.
Another form of racism due to lack of education in our nation is any discrimination against people from middle eastern countries. Due to the color of their skin and where their ethnicity is from, American citizens have assumed that they are Muslim and that “All Muslims are terrorists” which is far from the truth. In recent months, the Trump administration began to put a ban on anyone who identifies as Muslim on a ban into the country, forbidding them from coming in while they try and escape lands that they were to have died in if they hadn’t escaped. Within the United States, there have been multiple murders of Muslims women and men who were kidnapped and beaten to death or even attacked outside their place of worship. It is disgusting that we as Americans would go to such measures just because of the color of someone’s skin and where they are from.

Generalized statements about groups of people who only have something in common that they can't help (race, age, country of origin, gender at birth, etc) is kinda prejudiced, too.

@elib123,
Only Black people can become citizens of Liberia. Why aren't you complaining about that? Because you are not anti-black. You are anti-white. Anti-racist is a codeword for anti-white.

Simplistic and fatuous--maybe the member doesn't protest what happens in Liberia because the member doesn't live there. Apart from that, and the likelihood that people are not lining up to become citizens of Liberia, we only have your word that such a restriction exists.

Wikipedia says:
Quote:
Liberia confers nationality solely on the basis of race. Under the current Liberian constitution, only persons of black African origins may obtain citizenship, although Liberian law allows members of other races to hold permanent residency status. Within Liberia itself, the wider implications of the policy are part of a heated debate in which some native Liberians themselves have acknowledged that non-African permanent residents are crucial contributors to the country's economic activities and innovation system, mainly the wealthy Lebanese community

Also the Liberian Daily Observer says:
Quote:
Liberia’s Nationality Laws, based on its original 1847 Constitution and included in subsequent revisions, are profoundly discriminatory, which requires being black as the only prerequisite for becoming a citizen. Nationality is conferred solely based on race. Under the current constitution, only persons of Negroid origins can obtain citizenship. It is wrong! It is archaic! It is hypocritical, especially when Liberians are in the US, Canada, and other majority-white countries demanding and gaining citizenship in those countries.

None of which obliges the author of this thread to rush out to protest Liberia's policies. The author was clearly referring to the United States. The member Alphabeta is running around today calling all manner of things "anti-white," it is apparently today's hobby horse.

@Setanta,
If Liberia was a White country and allowed only White people to become citizens, you can be sure that anti-whites would be up in arms about it.
