I think they aren't. I don't really get any gifts from friends. I think maybe like buying me a drink or something to read is a nice one ya.

It's not really a gift if it involves you being there (buying a drink) but a gift card for coffee/drinks is a good idea.

A small gift card for a coffee shop/cafe along with a book is pretty much the most genius kind of gift. Good for a man or woman or child.

If you were in Canada, I'd say get a Tim Hortons gift card and a nice book on a subject that you and the giftee are interested in (which will create conversation later).
