You're an enlightened liberal after all.

Hardly. But I do think that using such terms on an opinion forum is acceptable. Were I a journalist penning an article for a respected magazine I'd express myself differently.

Considering the moan, groan and hollering from liberals about keeping everything PC, I think it most definitelyis problematic.

Okay.

But I'm not one of those people who insists on everything being PC. I think it's a dumb term which is easy to misunderstand. I don't believe that I've ever accused anyone of not being PC. I reject the concept in its entirety.

my real-world experience is that conservatives complain more about having to be PC than anyone ever suggests they should be PC

it's really quite bizarre

case in point

the offended conservative in action

we see a lot more of that on A2k (and in real life) than offended liberals

@Finn dAbuzz,
You’re going to look elsewhere for your offense.

I’m Southern, and you just slimed my lovely homeland by equating ignorance with it. There are pockets of ignorance sprinkled ALL OVER this land.

@Lash,
That's ridiculous.

I didn't equate the South (of which I am a proud resident for 35 years) with ignorance.

I equated the use of 'murica with slandering the South and all of rural America.

@hightor,
It's pretty damned ironic when a conservative who chooses not to employ demeaning terminology is accused of being PC by libs who feel free to indulge while criticizing everyone else.

But this is an online forum so you are free to use "darkie" "retard" "bimbo" and what have you.

So rich and delicious.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I just said ‘murika.

I said nor implied anything about the south.

You connected the two.

Then you have no concept at all about the term, and I doubt that.

To me, ‘murika connotes stupid ass Americans.

“Above.”

No. We’re all human.

I do have decidedly negative opinions about them.

@BillW,
Adam Schiff of California, ranking Democrat of the House Intelligence Committee, is certainly distinguishing himself from that cretin Devin Nunes who is trying to do his best to derail the investigation. The more I see of him, the more impressed I am. Former US Attorney.

Sure you're free to use those words. Although one has to use them with discretion. I can't see anyone using the term "darkie" in any other than a sarcastic manner — sometimes you can change the energy of a post or add information by using demeaning terminology without it being a personal accusation. Sometimes it catches its intended audience off guard; sometimes it falls flat. I have used the word "retard" but never as an accusation, usually as the adjective form with "-ed" on the end. I don't see why I'd have any reason to employ the term "bimbo" — ever.

@hightor,
Bimbo Bakeries USA is a leader in the baking industry, known for its category leading brands, innovative products, freshness and quality. As part of Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, BBU is proud to share the company philosophy.

Just saying Mr. Green however, the meaning of your post is well taken!

@hightor,
Well, you can probably use whatever derogatory labels you would like here because none of the usual suspects will call you on it. Not even snood, because tribal partisanism trumps everything. Have fun.

@BillW,
Well taken?

I'm not sure you even understand it.

Use one of these terms (other than in a ridiculous manner like "Bimbo Baked Goods") and then let's see how intellectually clever you are.
