I don't think is leukemia because otherwise the doctor should ask you for more tests right away.
Perhaps you are breast feeding and the doctor prefers avoiding given you medications when these are not badly needed.
The symptoms you are having can also be caused by other health reasons.
Perhaps one of your organs is not functioning well due to a possible infection. the one your doctor told you about,
It could be the stomach, the liver, but something temporary until the infection is away because your body defenses. Feeling very warm at nights can caused dehydration and you are going to feel weak, and this can be caused as a corollary of the virus infection.
You are correct by asking for more immediate lab tests when the former ones didn't show "normal".
No one here can tell you what is happening to your body, and only the lab results will guide the doctor for a more accurate evaluation.
